A nice outing place if you are an art lover, befitting for the culture of the town. Easy parking. Convenient location. Great staff and extensive choice of various art forms.

Been there a few times this year. (Christmas Carol and Frankenstein) Love it every time.

We saw a performance of A Christmas Carol, which was fantastic. The set & costumes were great, and the acting was excellent. The theater itself is very nice and I of a size where there doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house.

My theater experience was great. They need to have handicap accessibility for the bathrooms and better access across the board.

Handicap parking, lowered sidewalks, handicap accessible restrooms.

This is a beautiful old theater. Given its size, there really is not a bad seat in the house. During the Christmas season, be sure to catch a run of the Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol.

Parking can be difficult, as with nearly anything in the Princeton area. The earlier you arrive, the easier it will be to find nearby street parking which is easier than the lot.

Nothing special about this place. Very expensive considering the quality. Ticket prices with hidden fees. For the few times I went, the staff was consistently stuck up, rude and unhelpful. The only nice thing about the theater is the quaint outside. The inside is pretty old and boring looking.

The jazz experience after 630pm was bliss. Guitar drummer and pianist were of the charts but most of all the company was outstanding.

Just saw a performance of A Christmas Carol. I had high expectations but even still I was blown away. It was so good and so fun. Love how they have the special cup so you can drink your wine or whatever while watching the show.

Very cool theater on Princeton's campus. Free parking garage in the evening a few blocks away. The theater is very intimate with very good sound. The crowd was very quiet and respectful (except of course for the one idiot that yells something when it's very quiet). There's a small limited bar inside to get a quick drink and the restrooms were modern and clean. I will definitely go here again.

McCarter theatre has the best employees on earth!!! After an awful experience with another guest, I had asked if they would move my seats and they worked so quickly to do so!!! I am so incredibly grateful for their kindness and quick resolution to the issue.

Incredible performances by talented artists in relatively small theaters. This is a must see experience for anyone in central NJ.

Really nice local theater in NJ. We came as a family to see the production of the Nutcracker and all of the dancers and actors did a fantastic job. I would highly recommend this theater for a broadway quality performance.

Excellent sound, lots, of spots nearby for a preshow bite or drink. Get there early enough to park in the Princeton West garage, about two blocks away. Not much parking close.

No bad seats; well-maintained; fine amenities; excellent acoustics; comfortable seating with good knee space; friendly and helpful staff. We saw A Christmas Carol and it was a wonderful production. They sang a Christmas Carol before the performance and after. It was beautiful.

Tonight's GLORIA is a double hit for Emily Mann in her last season of Director here because she also wrote this bio-play about Gloria Steinham.
So, anytime you seek quality and inovative entertainment intermingled with the classics of the stage put The McCarter Theatre Center in your plans.
Also try to catch and attend the pre and post show discussions featured as a regular staple over here. The insights are enrichment to the entire experience.

Frankenstein was great. The theatre is very pleasant, but as a bigger guy the seats in front of me were so close, my knees felt like they were in my chest.

The Theater was very nice. Wife and I saw Manhattan Men.. These are the original 4 guys from the Broadway show Jersey Boys.. Great show.. if you like 60's music catch Manhattan Men. Great time!

A Christmas Carol is an annual tradition for me and my partner. We make the trip from King of Prussia every December. The show is always a delight. We've also seen other productions and have never been disappointed.

McCarter is a standard other theatres should aspire to. Quality entertainments regularly perform here. The seating is on the tight side if you are larger ( I am not but my friend is) and the concession prices reflect Princeton but that is expected and that is a reminder when you go. By all means go. It is the best venue in Central Jersey.

Excellent sound, seating is great but very cold temperature.

It's a very beautiful venue. The construction matches Princeton's Ivy League visual. All receptionists were extremely courteous, ready to help and solve any issue. As it was my first time going to this theatre since it's location makeover, I couldn't find an easy parking. Worse yet as I needed a handicap parking spot and there weren't any signals directing me to especial parking or any kind of parking. Later, a friend let me know that a little farther from the old train station, there is the new parking lot building.
If you are parking in front or around the theater, keep in mind that the street parking is not free till 8pm, so don't forget to pay for it in coins or card. Anyways, it was a great evening at the McCarter theater.

Great acoustics but quite possibly the most uncomfortable seating I ve ever experienced. If you are taller than 5 ft 3 in your knees will impale the person in front of you.

Talented actors. Love how they keep the community apart of the productions. Not a bad seat in the theater.

I've been attending performances at McCarter since I was a kid - my family would usually see The Christmas Carol each year. The quality of the actors is always good and it's an interesting looking historical building. If you're in town, check it out.

It's not fair for me to review McCarter. I work here. If it matters to you, the company does what it can to assure it's employees a living wage and a livable work environment. In return, we are very invested in making every event the best we can. Theater isn't for everyone, but it is unique in the live audience environment. Everyone should try it a couple of times and McCarter is a great place to do that. We get Broadway designers, directors and actors being so close to NYC. As to ticket prices, McCarter is a not for profit company of over 70 employees. That does not include the actors, designers and directors. It takes an army working behind the scenes to give you a great experience. Check it out sometime!

Love going to McCarter theatre for anything! Love the location and friendly people. The snacks especially the fig and goat cheese personal pizza/pastry is so so good!

It was so awesome being here. I loved it so much, the lights changed perfect timing, and the performers seemed so confident and made it seem like the event was actually taking place right there where they were. I recommend EVERYONE to go here, they do the best performances and I really couldn't ask for more.

Saw Midtown Men, the original Jersey Boys cast and was a very enjoyable, nostalgic show.

Wonderful staff, seating, acoustics, and a show or play for every taste.

Classically styled theater. The show had great production value for a small town! A fun night out.
