Matlock AC is a community of runners who are passionate about running and committed to excellence. The club was founded with the aim of bringing together like-minded individuals who share a love for running and want to improve their performance.
At Matlock AC, we believe that running is not just a sport but a way of life. Our club provides an environment where runners can train, compete, socialize, and support each other in their pursuit of excellence.
Our Club Activities
Matlock AC organizes scheduled runs every Monday and Thursday for members to participate in. These runs are designed to cater to all levels of runners from beginners to advanced athletes. We also organize training sessions for specific events such as the White Peak Marathon and Half Marathon as well as the Matlock Triathlon.
The White Peak Marathon is one of our most popular events which takes place annually in May. This event attracts runners from all over the country who come together to run through some stunning scenery in Derbyshire's Peak District National Park.
The Matlock Triathlon is another event that we organize annually which consists of swimming, cycling, and running segments. This event attracts both seasoned triathletes as well as beginners looking for a new challenge.
Our Community
At Matlock AC we pride ourselves on being more than just a running club - we are a community. Our members come from all walks of life but share common values such as dedication, perseverance, teamwork, respect for others' abilities regardless if they're fast or slow runner or beginner or experienced athlete.
We encourage our members not only to participate in our organized events but also take part in local races throughout the year where they can represent our club proudly while competing against other clubs across Derbyshire County or even further away!
Our Coaching Team
Matlock AC has a team of experienced coaches who are dedicated to helping our members achieve their personal goals. Our coaches provide guidance and support to runners of all levels, from beginners to advanced athletes.
Our coaching team is led by Head Coach, John Smith, who has over 20 years of experience in coaching runners. John is a UK Athletics qualified coach and has helped many runners achieve their personal bests.
Our Facilities
Matlock AC is based at the Arc Leisure Centre in Matlock where we have access to excellent facilities such as an indoor track, gymnasium, swimming pool and sauna. We also have access to some great running routes around the Peak District National Park which provides some stunning scenery for our runs.
