My girlfriend and I went for dinner, we both worked late and we got there about 9(posted hours are until 12). The hostess proceeded to tell us that the entrees weren't available because they weren't busy and they were sitting the kitchen down (which should have been a clue), and we could only order appetizers and salads. We both ordered accordingly, the server's suggestion for wings, which was not a traditional wing flavor, was horrendous. I told her and this sparked a reaction I've never gotten before. She walked away from the table grumbling and shaking her head(which occurred a few more times throughout the experience). The wings tasted like rawhide and motor oil, and this offended her. They replaced the wings and everything was fine. We ordered desert and both desserts were frozen and not very enjoyable. Overall, TWO THUMBS DOWN!!!!

Weve been many times and it is one of my favorites, especially the burgers, but there are a couple of inconsistent drawbacks. On more than one occasion the amounts billed to not match the menu prices. We've been asked on a couple of occasions would you like to add chicken, cheese, bacon, etc. Of course we know there would be an upcharge but we never feel as if we have to look at the menu to get a price first. My advice- please do or you could be out $4 to add chicken to your $11 salad (that's just one example) Second, during the early part of the day they have a waitress we are not too fond of. Not really on the ball, we'll leave it at that but we'd actually avoid going there if that was our only cboice.

Meh. The food was pretty good and highly recommend the mac and cheese but our experience could have been better. The food was great but service was so slow. Our waitress was super friendly but it took a long time to get our food and when we received it, it wasn t what we ordered; we were told that it was too late to for them to remake our food so they would just scrape the sauce off of the ribs which were ordered with sauce on the side strange. Also, my party had older folks and the hostess was walking so quickly that at one point, we didn t even know where she went.

Really nice restaurant though and I m sure it was an off night and not a reflection of how everything normally is.

It was ok. The wait staff didn't seem too friendly. The hostess seem not interested. She took five minutes trying to get silverware from behind the counter, when it would have taken her seconds to just walk around. My biggest issues was the food being overly spicy...just to much. I got spaghetti and wow...you would have thought I had ordered Cajun sauce with extra fire. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said, " Oh yeah he turns up the fire." On spaghetti????? Really???? I like to taste my food not have it hidden by heat. My wife's food was the same....different dish, but spicy. The cook just doesn't need to do that. Fresh food with balanced seasoning and a good recipe will make the food amazing. Don't hide that behind too much heat. Don't know if i'll go back,

I was so excited to eat here at a friends recommendation but ended up not even darkening the doorway. Looking into the window no one who was working in the restaurant was wearing a mask. Hopefully they ll start having their staff be safer and follow basic COVID protocol, because I have really heard the food is incredible.

Servers DO NOT wear masks. Extremely disappointed that the safety of their customers is not their concern. This is why we won t come out of this any time soon. Even vaccinated you can spread the virus. Shame. Food was okay. I would have left but had driven there to meet my daughter. I truly hope they turn around their stance and see the benefits of caring about their customers well being.

We went tonight and had appetizers and drinks and it was amazing!!! Food and service was the best!!! Our waiter was so much great! Howard even came to our table 2 or 3 times to check on our service! I love that through all the crazy time we can count on having a great experience with Mannings!!!!

Loved it... Everything was excellent. For the price it is tough to beat. Great service, excellent food and great chef in the kitchen.

We were passing through the area and decided to try them. The front door staff were friendly. Our waitress was sweet and attentive and the food was great.

Crab cakes were rocking. The Gumbo soup I loved and will go back just for that. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were very good as well.

Would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal at a fair price.

Food was great, but had a hostess who chose to argue with me on seating us (after an hour and 4 minute wait) and a senior citizen who had been waiting at least 30 minutes before we got there.
The owner came and spoke to me at my request. He listened and seated us after our discussion. I appreciate that from him.
As I was leaving, I was trying to apologize to the hostess if I had been to rough on her and instead of accepting the mutual apology, she argued again saying she hadn't done anything. Wow.
I'll go back, but not without a reservation and I suggest that anyone who goes have one.

First things first...not a single employee wore a mask except for the hostess.

I ordered the salmon cesar salad. The salmon is supposed to have a Cajun seasoning and it was anything but Cajun. It was cooked great but it had no flavor. I think they forgot to salt the fish and as a result it tasted bland. The Parmesan cheese shavings had the texture of wax. Maybe I got the rind??? It was actually pretty gross. The dressing was delicious though.

My husband had the ribs with fries and Mac and cheese. He said the sauce on the ribs was sweet (too sweet for his taste) but the ribs were cooked perfectly. He did say the actual meat itself was bland. Also the Mac and cheese was really dry and didn t taste like it had any flavor.

I m not really sure how they get such high reviews. Maybe today was just an off day?? I believe in always giving restaurants another chance but with this particular establishment it won t be for a while since no one was wearing a mask.

I wanted to thank you for your generous contribution to the Clayton High School Senior Class picnic. The food was delicious and the kids really enjoyed it. Your contribution helped make that event the success it was. I was very impressed with the community support for the picnic. I look forward to eating at your restaurant again soon. Thank you very much.

I was a bit disappointed with last night's visit. They seemed to be understaffed as service was spotty.

The food was hit or miss. I had the angel hair pasta with shrimp and was not impressed. The shrimp was good, but the sauce on the pasta was tasteless. Others at our table had similar opinions while some thought their meals were good.

I have been there before and was expecting a higher level of service and quality.

Food was great! The atmosphere was cozy. We ate on the rooftop dining area, and it was an amazing experience. The fire pit was warm and inviting, and we dined while watching the sunset. Highly recommend!! The staff was so sweet too! Favorite place to eat in Clayton!

First time at Mannings. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. I've known Clayton for 30 years and I could barely believe this place was in Clayton! As good as any place I've been and lived in including large cities. I mean like LA, Nola, NY, etc. Wow. Pleasent surprise. Good job Mannings. Just keep it up.

I've eaten there three times over 18 months. I must order the wrong items as they are just average or possibly just below average. Maybe my tastes are not of the chef's. The service is polite and efficient. The tables/booths are not crammed together. But the food has been just not there for me. Tonight had the Hannah Chicken Entree - it was over cooked and just barely seasoned enough, no taste to it, the sweet potato fries were very good, the veggies were also good. But the chicken is the main course and it was just not very good. Wife had crab cakes and she liked them. Not sure I will return.

This restaurant has never disappointed me. My boyfriend and I went here last night for a nice dinner, and it was more than that. We were seated in a quiet section, away from the hustle and bustle of the bar. The portobello mushroom and grits appetizer was incredible, i highly reccomend. As well as any entree with the crabcakes- they were delectable. I had mine on a brioche bun with sweet potato fries, and my boyfriend had his as they were over fried green tomatoes and a baked potato. We both ate everything! 10/10 for atmosphere and food. Our server definitely deserves to be mentioned, he was attentive and nice! I have been here before, always had great food and service, and will always come back. Thank you for being a local fave!

You do not need to travel to Raleigh to get high end food at a reasonable price. This place has excellent food with attention to detail. Plating, flavor, and balance are on point. Ambiance is quaint and clean. Restrooms are very clean as well. Over all I can say the management obviously cares about their customer experience and the kitchen staff in particular are top notch. Highly recommend giving this place your business.

I have been a long time customer since Mannings opened a few years ago. It has been a popular place since the beginning. Small menu but some great offerings including the best rack of ribs and the tastiest gumbo anywhere. Only reason not five stars is that service smetimes varies due to staff turnover.
