Neither M50 concession or Transport Infrastruture Ireland have offered me any assistance in relation to an incident which occurred which could have proved fatal.
On Thursday 14/5 I was travelling along the M50 Southbound when just after Exit 10, I struck a piece of idle debris in the middle lane. Upon impact to my car, I was able to coast into the hard shoulder into safety. The item was lodged underneath my car and had visibly punctured my oil tank, which you can see - spilled out entirely. I contacted M50 assistance who organised a tow to just off the M50, as this is where their responsibility ends. In the days after this, I have contacted M50 Concessions and TII for assistance in having my Motor Vehicle fixed as I should not have to claim off my own insurance when this situation was unavoidable.
My only options were to 'run over' the item or move into the lane beside me and risk hitting/being hit by another car as there was no reaction time available. Both parties have passed me from pillar to post trying to resolve this, I have contacted them both, An Garda Siochana - what more can I do?
When I eventually got in contact with an agent for TII, they have stated there is no Traffic Camera footage available in order to identify the Third Party vehicle this item came off. This is wholly unacceptable. How can there be no Traffic Camera footage on Ireland busiest motorway? I bet if I forgot to pay my toll, they'd definitely have footage of that or if my oil had caused another car to crash, I'd be liable.
