Lunch Break: Providing Nourishment and Compassion to Those in Need
Lunch Break is a non-profit organization that has been serving the community of Monmouth County and beyond for over 35 years. The organization's mission is to provide food, clothing, life skills, and fellowship to those in need with dignity and compassion. Lunch Break believes that everyone deserves access to basic necessities such as food, shelter, and clothing regardless of their socio-economic status.
The organization was founded in 1983 by Norma Todd who saw a need for a place where people could come together for a meal and socialize. Since then, Lunch Break has grown into an essential resource center that provides much more than just meals. The organization offers various programs such as job training, health screenings, legal assistance, counseling services, and more.
One of the most significant challenges faced by Lunch Break is hunger. According to Feeding America's Map the Meal Gap study (2019), approximately 10% of Monmouth County residents are food insecure. This means they lack consistent access to enough nutritious food necessary for an active healthy life.
To combat this issue head-on Lunch break operates several programs aimed at providing nourishing meals to those who need it most. One such program is the "Soup Kitchen" which serves hot meals six days per week throughout the year. In addition to this program lunch break also operates "The Food Pantry" which distributes groceries twice per month free of charge.
Another critical aspect of Lunch Break's work is providing clothing assistance through its "Clothing Distribution Program." This program provides gently used clothes donated by members of the community free-of-charge on Tuesdays from 10 am -12 pm.
In addition to these essential services lunch break also offers various other programs aimed at helping individuals become self-sufficient members of society again. These include job training courses like computer literacy classes or resume writing workshops; health screenings like blood pressure checks or diabetes testing; legal assistance clinics where attorneys volunteer their time pro bono; counseling services provided by licensed therapists who donate their time pro bono as well!
Lunch break relies heavily on donations from individuals businesses foundations churches schools civic groups etcetera all over Monmouth County New Jersey area beyond! Without these generous contributions lunch breaks would not be able continue its vital work helping those less fortunate than ourselves!
In conclusion if you're looking for an opportunity make difference your local community consider supporting lunch breaks today! Whether it be through volunteering donating money or simply spreading awareness about what they do every little bit helps! Together we can make sure no one goes hungry without proper clothing shelter support system when they need it most!
