Lumity is a Chicago-based nonprofit organization that is dedicated to empowering young people to pursue lifelong careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Founded in 1983, Lumity has been providing innovative programs and services that help students from underserved communities gain the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today's fast-paced world.
At Lumity, we believe that every student deserves access to high-quality STEM education. We work with schools, community organizations, and businesses to create opportunities for young people to explore their interests in STEM fields. Our programs are designed to be engaging, hands-on experiences that inspire curiosity and creativity.
One of our flagship programs is the Lumity Career Readiness Initiative. This program provides students with real-world experience through internships at local businesses. Students work alongside professionals in their chosen field of interest and gain valuable skills such as teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
In addition to our career readiness program, we also offer a variety of other initiatives aimed at promoting STEM education. These include:
- The Lumity Robotics Program: This program introduces students to robotics technology through hands-on activities such as building robots and programming them using software tools.
- The Lumity Coding Program: This program teaches students how to code using popular programming languages such as Python and Java.
- The Lumity Entrepreneurship Program: This program helps students develop entrepreneurial skills by teaching them how to start their own business ventures.
