I have been to Light and Life Academy, Ooty as a visiting faculty many times and it is the best Photography Academy College I have seen. It has the best facilities, ambience and faculty to master the art of photography.

He is a simple man. When I talked to him about how much he loves soil and organisms, organisms, and nature and this industry, I realized that only after that I had the opportunity to make some changes.

I had a chance to visit this campus last year with my family. It is a truly breathtaking sight facing a beautiful valley and surrounded by nature on all sides. It looks like an ideal location and setting to practice photography. The lighting we get within the campus and its surrounding is phenomenal. Thanks to Iqbal sir and Anu mam for the warm welcome and to the staff who helped in getting a tour of the full campus. We spent a few hours in the campus and spoke to the students, faculty and hearing it from the profound founders was a gift! It felt like a close knit family and we really enjoyed being there. Will definitely be visiting again.

Being an Alumni of this school I can definitely say it is India's premier Photography school. All the courses here are mentored under Mr Iqbal Mohamed which made the learning even more worthwhile. The foundation of the course is very strong. It has one of the most amazing faculties visiting the campus regularly. The institute is well equipped and has a very hospitable staff. Although the course was nicely structured I felt there was a need to revamp the course a little bit to the current needs of the field. But With the coming batches I can see the management is trying to update the course according to the current times. The best part of this school was meeting students who come from different parts of the country which added to my learning experience. Last but not the least this school will always play a special part in my creative and personal journey. I made many good friends here and have many fond memories from my time here in Nilgiris.
I couldn't have gone to a better place to study photography.

One of the most premium institutes in the country to study photography. And even after that, studying something like photography in such a beautiful campus in the midst of the beauty of Nilgiris and beautiful people there is in itself an experience that is unmatched. And experience is very important and probably even more important than just learning techniques and theory.
On top of that this is not a college with hundreds of students, and multiple batches, sections and courses. The 50 or 60 students is the entire batch of the year for the one particular course. Helps to get personal attention from faculties and the college. It also helps building a personal connection with a sense of community.
And on to of that, no permanent faculty. The teaching faculty is all people who have made a mark and are presently in the industry. And photography as a subject is ever so updating itself, having faculty from the present industry helps get updated insight on the industry and techniques instead of following some old routine textbook syllabus.

Beautiful campus in the Nilgiris and amazing environment for learning. The students are given a well-rounded education not just in photography but in other aspects of life as well. It s great to see them contribute to the community through various activities. I had a chance to interact with them during one of their outreach programs and was very impressed with the culture the founders have developed at the institute.

In the middle of January, 2020 I had visited Ooty. During my stay there it became a pleasure visiting Light & Life Academy situated in the lap of nature. After a warm reception from Mrs. Anuradha & Mr. Iqbal they took me around the Institution. I was surprised to find a striking resemblance of this institution with Shantiniketan, instituted by Rabindranath Tagore.

Shantiniketan was established in a remote place on the principles of humanism and a sustainable environment. LLA is also very beautifully constructed and painted in natural colors.

Students from all corner of India study not only in class rooms & studios but also in natural environment as found in Shantiniketan.

In real sense I am quite happy visiting this extraordinary place.

I am writing this as a senior who has, often over the past 15 years, visited the LLA, practically from its inception. I have been fascinated in watching the Academy grow from its humble beginnings to the giant that it is now, owing to the Herculean efforts of Mr Iqbal, who has raised the LLA to its present levels, with the indefatigable Anuradha toiling to raise the bar all the time.
The widespread LLA campus in sylvan surroundings, the ambience of the place with high technical excellence in teaching, surely make the LLA the premier institution for teaching of Photography in India and, most probably in Asia too.
My sincerest wishes to them for further growth, accomplishments and achievements.

The location, the ambience, the setting and the campus itself - beautiful! The right place for someone to pursue a course in photography. And when the chief mentor here is the renowned photographer Iqbal, what more can a student of photography ask for?

I personally have no exposure to photography. I do have the ability to admire good photographs.I had an acquaintance who was assisting Sharad Haskar in Chennai and we used to talk about the studio, lenses etc. He later went on to Assist Venkit for his movie ventures. During one of the discussions he mentioned about LLA and how accomplished Mr.Iqbal was in the art of industrial photography and how he was way ahead of times, which is when I took the initiative to know about Mr.Iqbal from internet and started suggesting to friends whose children were interested in learning photography in a professional atmosphere and wanted to make a career. Two of my references Anurag Kamilla and one more joined LLA and are now doing great for themselves .

LLA is located in a beautiful location of Ooty, ketti valley which is very serene and the architecture and infrastructure of LLA complement the location.

Staff in the academy are very supportive and friendly right from managing staff to our care takers one does not feel away from home by their warmth.

Light and Life Academy is definitely the place to go to if your looking for a professional course in photography. The course takes you through the very basics to advanced specialisation in the areas of fashion, food, architecture, industrial, automobile and underwater photography to choose from. The USP of the place is the location, situated in the nilgiries, the place is so beautiful that you are inspired every single day. They have probably the best infrastucrure in terms of studios on campus , including a day light studio and a very sophisticated and huge production studio. The Faculty are usually alumini from the same institute. They come to teach because they love this place and want to give back to the institute in some way. The curiculam is quite intensive and requires you to be on your toes at all times. Its a very techical course, and the aesthetics is something the institute encourages the students to develop on their own. The course mostly includes classroom sessions, demos and critiques sessions.
The biggest value add is having Mr Iqbal Mohamad on campus through out the year. Everyone who studied in this academy would agree that its a privilege to be taught by him. To see him work on his personal projects and assist him once in a while :)
