The History of Ledgestone Vineyards
Ledgestone Vineyards was founded by Steve DeBaker in 2007. Steve had always been passionate about wine and had a dream of owning his own vineyard. He purchased the land where the vineyard now stands in 2004 and began planting grapevines shortly after.
The first harvest at Ledgestone Vineyards took place in 2008, with just over 1 ton of grapes being harvested. Since then, the vineyard has grown to produce over 20 tons of grapes each year.
The Winemaking Process at Ledgestone Vineyards
At Ledgestone Vineyards, they believe that great wine starts with great grapes. That's why they take great care in growing their own grapes on-site.
Once the grapes are harvested, they are brought into the winery where they undergo a rigorous sorting process to ensure only the best quality fruit is used for winemaking.
The next step is crushing and pressing the grapes to extract their juice. The juice is then fermented using yeast to convert sugar into alcohol. This process can take anywhere from several weeks to several months depending on the type of wine being made.
After fermentation is complete, the wine is aged in oak barrels or stainless steel tanks before being bottled and labeled for sale.
