Went for "Lights on at LaCaille." It's just festive to drive up the brick road with tree trunks all lit up. Inside they served yummy cookies and delicious hot chocolate and had a jolly Santa. The water reflecting the lights outside is beautiful as well as the lit fire. The lights behind the restaurant seemed a bit scanty, but so enjoyable.

This Utah institution is in a downward spiral. I only hope that they can pull back from the edge. It is still worth the substantial price just for the grounds and atmosphere. However, the food and service are definitely not up the the level that we have come to expect from this place over the years. Big challenges in ownership have taken a toll on this fine restaurant. Hopefully someone will rescue this place, and keep it from becoming a real estate development. But don't count on it.

La Caille + The Cottage

First and foremost, THANK YOU! My husband and I were looking for a unique, beautiful, wedding venue and landed on La Caille. We are from the Chicagoland area and set up a tour for multiple venues in the area a year and a half in advance, and fell in love immediately with the location. I won t dwell too much on its beauty and grounds as it speaks for itself but our friends and family were blown away and have never experienced anything like La Caille. Giving our tour was event coordinator Marielle, who after a year and a half of talking to us and planning was beyond accommodating and helpful. She was knowledgeable, offering suggestions and vendor options as well generally being a kind person and excited for us on our wedding day. With La Caille being a restaurant we weren t worried at all about the food selections and there was no need. This is no regular steak or chicken wedding, the food was phenomenal. The coordination from Marielle to Mark; the day of coordinator, was so smooth it s as if Mark helped plan all along as well. Everything, every waiter, every groundskeeper, the bartender, was five steps ahead of what we could have planned. After our ceremony we had our own personal waiter who brought us the hor de voures (since we were taking pictures and guests were in the cocktail hour) which was AMAZING as normally a bride and groom miss out on their food choices for the guests during this time. Each and every vendor from photography, entertainment, hair and make up, florists, worked with the La Caille staff in making our day not stressful. I mean, I have more stress on a Monday at work than I did on my wedding day! Unbelievable and remarkable.
Post wedding we stayed at The Cottage on the property and if that doesn t conclude your experience at La Caille nothing will. It was set up perfectly! Greeted with a fireplace, our own deck and hot tub, and a king size bed that will give you the most comfortable nights sleep you ve had after an emotional but best wedding day. I would HIGHLY recommend staying on the property for your wedding night.
But wait! There s more, really how is it possible?! Included in The Cottage and our package was a complimentary breakfast back at the restaurant. Anyone in the area will tell you the food is amazing at La Caille and there s nothing better than being able to come back to your wedding location next day and have a five star brunch you would only treat yourselves to occasionally. Overall our experience with La Caille and the staff was exceptional. I would highly recommend the location and team to anyone looking to celebrate any occasion.

For what it's worth, I love La Caille. I've been about 5 times and it has always been GREAT! The food is to die for and AUTHENTICALLY French! The grounds are beautiful as is the building itself. Definitely a place you'll want to bring your camera with you when you go. The food is photogenic as is the environment. Whether you go in the Winter or the Summer, it's gorgeous. The appetizers, main dishes, and desserts are all good and I've never been dissatisfied with anything. It's a great place to bring the family or just a date. The waitresses/waiters are all so nice and more than willing to accomodate you and your party. I'm only 18 and every time I go they treat me with the upmost respect and serve me very well, especially while I'm there on a date. The valet service is also very good. Overall, this place is an experience I would encourage everyone to at least try out once in their lives. I will be a lifelong customer because of how well they've done everything from the food to the customer service every time I go. I can't say enough good about La Caille. I've even gone to a charity event at La Caille and it was so well done that I wouldn't mind throwing my own charity event there one day. I could go on about how much I love La Caille forever, but I'll stop now. I encourage you all to try this wonderful place out. You won't regret it!

Went here for our 2 year anniversary. Wonderful experience. Great food. You need to try it once, but for us it will probably be just the once due to price. I had $100 in gift cards as a thank you for photographing someone's wedding. We then put in an extra $20 of our own money. It was so cool to eat here for only $20 of our money, but without more gift cards, we just can't justify the $120 for 2 people!

It's nature bestowed area in salt lake city valley. Very scenic, quite and serene. Food was it's bit pricey but one can equate to service and "makes one feel special" feeling one receive, makes it worth going. Staff is amazing and they make you feel like home. It's close to I-215, and that side of road have scenic drive :) must go place on special occasions.

Beautiful atmosphere and great food. Was disappointed that they sold out if lamb. Great service and good for a nice romantic or special occasion dinner.

A bit pricey for a regular evening meal e.g. two of us had 2 drinks, a shared appetizer, entrees and a shared dessert for $190 not including gratuity.

One of Utah's best kept secrets. The food was amazing! The grounds were spectacular and breathtaking. It felt like a little slice of heaven away from the hustle of the city but not to far away from home. I can't say enough about the quality of food here the meals came out perfectly to order and was almost as beautiful as our waitress Madison. I found my new favorite place!

This is a good place, but honestly I wouldn't say it is completely worth the price. You won't be disappointed, but you aren't going to be blown away with the food. The setting and grounds are beautiful, but the food isn't any better than a 35 dollar menu. I would recommend to anyone to get their own opinion. I would also strongly recommend for anyone to get professional pictures done on the grounds.

This is an adorable establishment with the most beautiful grounds. As part of a wedding we were treated extremely well. All of the staff was awesome and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. One star off for the parking lot and required valet parking.

Delicious food, although most of what I ate was veeery buttery. Great wine also, grown from their own vineyards. Their house pinot noir in particular is some of the best I've had recently. The decor, rather than evoking classic French atmosphere, is more akin to what someone in the early 80s imagined would look French. That being said, the place does have a certain charm to it.

This place is really nice and has the best brunch around. We went for my wife s birthday and everyone working was really nice and complimented us. Our waiter Trey was really attentive and made sure we knew what we wanted to know. The prices are on the higher side but it is worth every penny. With the views and the food I would highly recommend it.

The atmosphere here is second to none. So good in fact that I decided to marry the woman of my dreams here :) The service rendered to us that day as well as every time we ve dined here has been absolutely superb. If you re thinking about using them for your wedding venue, I can honestly say it was probably the only entirely perfect day I ve had in my life and the beauty of the entire place as well as their impeccable service contributed to that greatly. If you re on the fence about them, get off the fence, and climb down to this magical retreat :)

The food and menu that the new chefs have come up with is absolutely amazing. The food now meets the ambiance that it once had years ago. The chefs have done an amazing job coming up with creative menu items that will make you wonder if you are actually in Utah. Everyone from the hostess to the wait staff is great and very attentive. I would strongly recommend eating here for any occasion as I am certain you will not be disappointed. Great job La Caille!

I have been going to La Caille for many years and I guess I expect it to be like it used to be. Ambiance great but service was not up to par for a high end restaurant...spent a lot of money and left very disappointed...our yearly family tradition has ended looking for another place.

Went to Easter brunch, thought it would be a good way to try it out. The food was OK, nothing exceptional or even memorable. A lot of the reviews mention how beautiful the grounds are, but it was unkempt and underwhelming, it was very disappointing. Maybe it was the time of year? They do have a great Irish coffee, though.

The service, wait staff and location are all fantastic. It's a beautiful place. The food is fantastic and we love the variety. We were on the patio and got to mingle with the peacocks. They were a bit noisy at times but honestly for me, added fun to the experience.

Blah. I guess if you like eating goose liver pate, escargot, and fish eggs you'll love it. I hated that your sitting so close to all the other dinners and are immersed in their conversation. I ordered the caprese salad, steak and bananas foster for dessert. Mehh. This place goes down with one of my top money wasting regrets.

As a family we decided to treat all of our mothers to a fabulous meal at La Caille for Mother's Day. Unfortunately we were very disappointed by the quality and variety that were offered. The options presented were very limited, consisting of a few selections of meat (prime rib, pork loin and roasted chicken) with what appeared to be no vegetables and only breakfast potatoes as a starch. While the cuisine was relatively tasty, it was a far cry from what I expect at a fine dining restaurant. In addition to the "fair" options for the buffet, the service was very lax. Perhaps I expected to much. With a 20% gratuity automatically included, and buffet pricing that rivals many 5 star resorts Sunday brunch prices, I expect, quality, variety and exceptional service. Not a table, incompletely set, variety missing and servers that we had to hunt for to get drink refills or plates cleared. As a whole, I believe that my family was satisfied with the experience, but there was a definite lack of enthusiasm about the experience. Unfortunately as a whole, we, 2 grandmothers, 3 mothers, a grandfather, and 3 fathers, would not choose to do this again. Our time, and money would be better spent elsewhere.

They say you cant reserve online so you have to call- I called 11 times today with no one ever answering the phone. Finally left message but at this point don't even want to go. How do you not answer you phone throughout the day. Wife liked this place because of the peacocks but after I told her no one answered all day she said last time wasn't worth this much headache to get a reservation as the food wasn't good at all..... So lost another reservation and 3 other reservations from employees that were going to try the place out. Might want to get you reservations figured out.....oh just called and let them know and lady was like " of no worries".. guess you don't care you lost money
