went back next day and they said the kite was defective and it wasn't me! Swapped out for the new kite and they put it mostly together this time to make sure there were no issues. Of course, it's been raining ever since so still no kite flying. It's nice when things work out right the first time. ***boyfriend bought me a kite for my birthday and we go to the beach, try to get it together and this little bar has to go all the way around the nose from some weird non middle entry point while also going in the opposite direction? The directions were no help. Yes you say there is a hole there but not how to get the two points in at the same time without that thin flexible wire breaking. And because we don't have years of experience putting kites together, the thing broke in my hands. So thanks for a $36 piece of crap that requires years of kite building experience or a degree in engineering to figure out. Birthday kite flying on beach FAIL.

Cold, impersonal service. Others might have a different experience, but for me, they acted like I wasn't even there. $40 wasted. Now I drive right past this place and go out of town when I want a good kite store, totally worth the drive.

We wanted a kite to play around with for our weekend at the coast. The kite was great and the staff were very friendly. Will definitely come back.

Great group of people, excellent customer service, quality products! Gave us plenty of room to shop, but checked in from time to time to be sure we were still doing okay. Purchased a sizable stunt kite- much larger than I'm used to. They brought the kite out from the back, opened it up to make sure everything assembled correctly, and walked me through all the features step by step. Will be back on our next vacation to purchase a kite that doesn't drag my wife down the beach!

Took my two grandkids to the Kite Company for their first "beach" kites. Great selection and the staff was very informative and helpful. They did an excellent of recommending good "starter" kites in line with my price range the kid's desire to have a kite that reflected their personality. Granddaughter went home with a beautiful princess kite and grandson picked out a gnarly pirate kite. Both were very easy to assemble, launch and held up remarkably well to 20 mph wind. Excellent experience and we all couldn't be happier!

I was refused service by the owner due to a medical issue When I tried to compromise and explain to him he said he did not give a dam and said he would not give us service and to get out of his store and I Was a return customer and have spent thousands in his store on kites Needless to say I will not be returning there ever again

A really unique store that is fortunate on the main street and run by a friendly, competent staff.

A great kite store. Will walk you through the kite setting up, flying , and putting away process completely. You will feel like a professional before you walk out the door with your new kite. Any issues with your new kite, the kite company will fix, even after you take it home. We bought sport kites and I could fly mine pretty well after the complimentary kite lesson. The kids and husband were pros right away.

Exceptional customer service. Keith set me up with a small, foldable kite that will fly in wind between 6 and 20 miles an hour, won't be hard for my 5 year old to control, and is small enough to fit in a glove box. He also strung the kite for me and taught me how to tie the kite string up for easy deployment and no tangling.

Never seen so many kites and other items used in tje wind. They have special kites that look like planed, animals, space ships and things thT spin in the wind . It is worth the stop to look. Kind of hard to find so use your gps.

We came here looking to buy some kite string for and old stunt kite we bought at a thrift store. To our surprise, the owner had us bring in our kite to verify what kind of string we would need. Not only did he get us the correct string needed, he also adjusted our kite and inspected it for a safe flight. The owner was very knowledgeable with kites and so nice to talk to. He gave us some pointers and some great tips on flying our kite correctly. We made it to the beach and the kite worked great. It was so much fun to fly and learn about our kite. Thanks for all the help!!

Large collection of kits & reasonably priced! I've never flown a kite before but I got an octopus for $20 & it was great! Very easy to assemble & get into the air. They had kites for every skill level.

Very friendly place. They engaged me and helped explain all the differences between the kites. After I purchased, they walked me through the setup to make sure I understood how to setup and use the kite. I love local stores!

Such a cool store! I never thought about how impressive kites could be. I would have enjoyed chatting with the people working there more, but I think it was too obvious I was a tourist who wasn't likely to buy a kite. You should definitely pop in there if only to look at the beautiful colors. Along with kites they have other decorations and stuff that are wind oriented.

Kimry was absolutely amazing, walked me through exactly which kite I should get for what I wanted to do and spent over 30mins with me one on one explaining how to use it best. Freaking awesome people that run the shop. About the best selection of kites of ever seen, probably well over a 100 models. Customer service is beyond top notch. I've broken a few kites that I've gotten from them and they would have repaired them for me at no cost.

Stopped in and bought a kite. Owner was very helpful and helped us find a great kite.

They have all of their kites for sale on display, so it is easy to decide which kite you want. There is quite the choice of accessories and the owner makes you feel welcome and is willing to help in any way. Their prices are better in the area.

Came in while on anniversary weekend with my boyfriend, looking for a first kite experience. I definitely got that, with all the knowledge to make me a pro also, but that was free! We ended up getting a Symphony Pro 1.8 and could not be more pleased, it s similar to a parasail but don t Drag us down the beach from the 20+ winds. Will be back for my upgrade when I m ready!

Fabulous selection and the man in the store was really knowledgeable. He taught us how to assemble our kite and talked us through some basic stunts. I highly recommend this shop!

This place is off the hook great! If you are going to get a real kite (not a cheap plastic piece of junk from Wal-Mart) I would only recommend this store to you. My family and I always went to Catch the Wind kites growing up who is no more. I have been to the Kite Company multiple times this weekend for parts, new kites and a couple to take home. The owners and employees are extremely friendly and informative. I bought my daughters first stunt kite and the instruction he gave her was second to none. I don't ever remember getting any instruction upon purchasing kites at any other store. From now on all my kite needs will be direct from The Kite Company whether I have to order from home or when I am at the coast. Thanks Kite Company! We will be back.

We were on vacation near Newport this month and saw others flying kites on Tillicum Beach and decided we needed one too! The gentleman at the store (Keith, I believe) was friendly and helpful and set us up with a great beginner kite which flew easily and beautifully! What a fun addition to our Oregon vacation! This store is great. The staff is super helpful and very friendly. They have a wealth of information about the wide range of kites there. I travel from the Seattle area just to visit this shop. I am happy I stopped while I was driving by. The store is also very easy to notice from the road and parking has never been a problem.

I purchased a Cherry Bomb kite 15 years ago for this store. Flash to the present and I had a rip that needed to be repaired on the same kite. They happily made the repair and in a very quick time period!

We brought in a whole bag of old busted up kites and the owner helped out a ton by getting all of our broken parts fixed up! He had us on the beach flying in less than 1/2 hour at a very reasonable price. Really great store!

My boyfriend and I were doing a road trip. We stopped in Newport and decided to walk around. Everything thing was closed except the kite company. Since we planned to go to the beach we decided to get a kite. The owner was super nice and didn't try to push you to buy the most expensive thing. He explained every kite and from low to high. Since it was our first time there he was nice enough to print us a map of the area and highlighted everything that was still open and a great restaurant. Hands down this place proved that Newport is the friendliest city.

We bought a kite 2 years ago and broke the tee yesterday. Took it to them to repair and they fixed it on the spot. Great service low repair rates. Ty
