About Judis house

We believe that no child should be alone as they navigate the death of an important person.

Judis House: Providing Support and Healing for Grieving Children

Losing a loved one is never easy, especially for children who are still trying to understand the world around them. The death of an important person can be overwhelming and confusing, leaving children feeling lost, scared, and alone. That's where Judis House comes in - a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support and healing for grieving children.

At Judis House, we believe that no child should have to navigate the difficult journey of grief alone. Our mission is to help children and families cope with loss by providing a safe space where they can express their feelings, share their stories, and find comfort in knowing that they are not alone.

Our History

Judis House was founded in 2002 by Brook Griese after she lost her husband Brian Griese's mother Judith Ann Griese (Judi) in 1988 when he was just 12 years old. Brook saw firsthand how difficult it was for Brian to cope with his loss as a child and recognized the need for more resources to support grieving children.

With the help of her family and community members, Brook established Judis House as a place where children could come together to share their experiences with others who understood what they were going through. Since then, Judis House has grown into one of Colorado's leading organizations dedicated to helping grieving families heal.

Our Programs

At Judis House, we offer a variety of programs designed specifically for grieving children and their families. Our services include:

1) Peer Support Groups: We provide age-appropriate peer support groups led by trained facilitators who help guide discussions about grief-related topics such as coping skills or memories of loved ones.

2) Family Nights: We host monthly family nights where parents/guardians can connect with other adults while kids participate in activities designed specifically for them.

3) Camp Erin® Denver/Boulder: A weekend-long camp experience held annually at YMCA Camp Shady Brook near Deckers CO., which provides kids ages 6-17 an opportunity to connect with peers who have experienced similar losses while participating in traditional camp activities like archery or hiking trails through nature preserves!

4) School-Based Services: We partner with schools throughout Colorado offering on-site counseling services so students don't have far travel distances from school or home during this challenging time period following loss events occurring within school communities themselves too!

5) Community Education & Outreach: We provide education about grief-related topics such as how best friends can support each other during times of loss; how teachers can create supportive classroom environments; etcetera!

All our programs are free-of-charge thanks largely due generous donations from individuals like you!

Our Impact

Since our founding over two decades ago now we've helped thousands upon thousands upon thousands (and counting!) people find hope again after experiencing significant losses within their lives! Here are some statistics that demonstrate our impact:

1) Over 10k+ individuals served since inception

2) Over $10M raised since inception

3) Over 1000+ volunteers trained since inception

4) Over 90% satisfaction rate among program participants according surveys conducted annually!

We're proud that our work has been recognized nationally too - including being awarded "Best Nonprofit" by Westword Magazine multiple times over recent years!

How You Can Help

As a non-profit organization relying solely on donations from individuals like you!, we rely heavily on your generosity so we may continue serving those most vulnerable among us all - young people navigating life without someone important whom they love dearly having passed away before them...
