The system consists of three main pipelines - Cold Lake pipeline system (CLP), Corridor pipeline system (CPS), and Polaris pipeline system - with a combined length of over 3,300 kilometers.

The CLP transports bitumen from Cold Lake to Edmonton while CPS transports it from Fort McMurray to Edmonton. The Polaris pipeline connects Fort McMurray to the Edmonton area via an underground diluent line that allows for blending with heavy crude oil.

NGL Processing

Inter Pipeline's NGL Processing segment includes two world-class facilities - the Cochrane Extraction Plant (CEP) and Empress II/III Complex - that process natural gas liquids into marketable products such as propane, butane, ethane and condensate.

The CEP is located near Calgary and processes up to 20% of Alberta's total NGL production. It also produces high-purity ethane for use by petrochemical plants in Alberta. On the other hand, Empress II/III Complex is located near Medicine Hat in southern Alberta and processes up to 40% of western Canadian NGL production.

Conventional Oil Pipelines

Inter Pipeline owns several conventional oil pipelines that transport crude oil from producing fields to refineries or export terminals across Western Canada. These include Bow River pipeline system (BRPS), Central Alberta pipeline system (CAPS), Mid-Saskatchewan pipeline system (MSPS) among others.

The BRPS runs from Brooks through Calgary while CAPS runs through central Alberta connecting Edmonton with Hardisty terminal where it connects with other pipelines heading south towards US refineries or west towards Pacific coast export terminals. MSPS runs through Saskatchewan connecting Lloydminster with Regina refinery complex owned by Federated Co-operatives Limited.

Bulk Liquid Storage
