IACT: Empowering Communities and Creating a Better World

iACT is a Los Angeles-based international organization that is dedicated to providing humanitarian aid, empowering communities, and extending hope to those affected by conflict and humanitarian crises. The organization was founded in 2005 by Gabriel Stauring, who was inspired by his experiences working with refugees in Darfur.

Since its inception, iACT has been committed to creating a world where people are connected and equipped to act. The organization works with communities affected by conflict and displacement around the world, including in Chad, Cameroon, Greece, Tanzania, Uganda, and the United States.

One of iACT's core programs is Little Ripples. This program provides early childhood education for refugee children aged three to five years old. Little Ripples aims to create safe spaces for children affected by conflict where they can learn through play-based activities that promote social-emotional development.

Another key program of iACT is Global Citizens Initiative (GCI). GCI aims to empower young people from diverse backgrounds around the world through leadership training programs that focus on global citizenship. Through GCI's programs, young people develop skills such as critical thinking and problem-solving while learning about issues such as human rights and environmental sustainability.

In addition to these programs, iACT also provides emergency response services during times of crisis. For example, during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021 iACT provided hygiene kits containing soap and other essential items for vulnerable families living in refugee camps.

iACT's work has been recognized globally for its impact on communities affected by conflict. In 2019 the organization received the prestigious Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship which recognizes organizations that have demonstrated significant impact on some of the world’s most pressing problems.

At its core iACT believes that everyone has a role to play in creating positive change in their community no matter how small it may seem. By empowering individuals with knowledge skills resources they need we can create a better future together.
