Great basketball venue. I've seen a few games here, and can say for sure that the Hilton Magic is real. There is a good deal of parking available (just make sure your not in a reserved spot that's not yours) and it's not too bad to get out of when games end. The facility is well maintained and the bathrooms have always been clean.

If you do not love this place, you are probably a Hawkeye fan and do not deserve happiness... at least in Ames. ;-) I love this place. I cannot wait for the upcoming improvements and an even better experience. Don't be a cheapskate, buy your kid a Clone Cone! If you don't have a kid, pay it forward and buy one for a friend or hookup a stranger.

As an Iowa Hawkeye fan I'm not allowed to give a score higher than 3 STARS but overall I like Hilton.
It is definitely an older building but that is part of why it's such a great environment.
As a fan trying to watch a game though it's pretty difficult.
Anything past the 15 row tends to get pretty rough.
The stairs & seats are STACKED on top of each other & if you're up high you feel like you're going to fall down the stairs. NOT ADA-FRIENDLY at all. Tough to see the action at times.
Another thing that I didn't like was the fact that you can't see anything when you go to the concession areas. You're completely separated from the action so you have no idea what's going on & it makes the whole process a little frustrating

One of the premiere basketball venues in America. If you re attending a basketball game, it gets LOUD. Concessions have a nice variety, including the Clone Cone, which is a must. Excluding men s basketball, tickets are fairly cheap. Upper deck seats aren t too bad, but you will probably find yourself watching the screen more than the actual court.

I had a great time here, got to watch my first ever college basketball game and it was a blast.

Parking was about a 10 minute walk, but no problem finding somewhere to park. Seating was easy to find, and had a good view regardless of who was sitting in front of you.

The one issue I have is that the bar is some sort of members only situation, which seems odd being a public university? Other than that, it is a great place to watch basketball, and I will be sure to visit again.

Been enjoying games here for years. Atmosphere is great but concession service can be slow due to their policy of allowing organizations to man the stations to earn funds for their group. Although I'm in favor of the desire to support these groups, wish it could be done in a way that allows you to grab a soda without missing considerable game time.

Went for a wrestling meet, so I'm sure my experience may be different during a basketball game with a packed house. Staff was all very nice and helpful. Food options were what you'd expect to get at any basic concession stand. The building itself feels old and a bit worn. The parking setup is really convenient and was free during the wrestling meet at least.

I have to admit it would be tough to get a true 5 star rating on a public venue like this since there are so many moving parts, 4 stars is not a bad thing at all in that context. We had decent seating for the handicap area and the rest of the family was able to sit close by, restrooms were also found easily. Traffic can always be a bother at large events and that is not what the problem is, it's the lack of folks directing traffic for such a venue. Overall had a very good trip.

My 1st ever Hilton Event. The ISU & UNI Fans are wonderful The morning tailgaters were family oriented with activities for the young ones & the ever popular bag toss with adult beverage for the over 21 crowd! Traffic was maintained well under direction of The APD. Parking lots are well constructed for accommodating large tour buses in their area & personal trucks/vans/vehicles in their area. Ames has large events "down to a science", as is said. Come witness for yourselves, a great autumn Saturday, for sure!

The energy at Hilton is always high. As for the building itself... it's s pretty standard stadium. Seats are hard, but not bad to sit on. They do a good job keeping people moving so there's usually no big wait to get in or move around. The concessions are typical expensive mediocre quality concessions.
