Absolutely beautiful, the peace and quiet that you get is priceless. Such a beautiful location. The only suggestion if make is that there are a few prices of equipment that could benefit from some fixes or replacements as they're very well loved and used. There isn't anything that took the shine from my stay at Shank Wood Log Cabin though. It was perfect.
I am a full time Lake District Wedding Photographer and I have been to a lot of venues. I have to say this is by far one of my favourite. Amazing grounds, incredible food, lovely staff, If you are getting married, You cant really go wrong with this venue.
Me and my family also stayed there a couple of times, and We had an amazing time. The lodges are cosy, very clean and super spacious. Massive hot tub with an amazing River view is to die for. I can`t wait to be back again!

What a lovely relaxed evening we've just had. The service provided by Ella was excellent. She didn't make us feel rushed and was so pleasant looking after us. There was a good choice of courses from the menu. The mains and desserts chosen were excellent too. Hot, tasty and well presented. In the present situation we felt reassured with the measures taken to make customers feel safe. Look forward to eating here again.

Just been for lunch, dining outside by the river. First day opening after lockdown and food and service fantastic. Nice to see most tables full. Highly recommend.
Not as good as when it was in the Barn...limited menu and tables too close together. The staff were lovely.
Lovely setting in the new barn with peaceful views over the river. Fantastic food very nicely presented and served by the friendly, efficient staff. A good selection of dishes and drinks. Premises are spotlessly clean inside and out. The access road is a little rough, but I suppose this is what you get in the countryside! A hidden gem and worthy of a visit. I'd recommend booking as we did. It was quite busy when we went, and it's a long way from anywhere else.

Have to say that this would definitely be a 5 star rating if it were not for the poor condition of the access track. The food was excellent, staff very good, prices excellent and all in a simply stunning location . BUT that track is terrible - made the journey there stressful and the thought of the exit journey was on my mind during the meal. I appreciate that it needs a long track to get there due to location but the track needs to be better maintained - sorry !
