Good food, quick service, great location lovely outdoor terrace with umbrellas and great views and good for families!!
The service was not great and the food was about the same
Booked in advance as busy now with eat out to help out scheme. Good food and dog friendly.
Excellent service,outstanding food spectacular views
Excellent fish pie, can't recommend it enough. Very pleasant atmosphere for a snack to a full meal. Very polite and attentive staff. Thoroughly recommended.
Excellent place to eat staff are superb and our waitress nia was lovely couldn't do enough for you would highly recommend to visit food was delicious
A beautiful building right on the Taw river with good food and a great selection of beer. Very child and dog friendly. Would recommend and will be definitely going again.
Very good service considering the state we are in and restrictions that are put in place. Make you feel very welcome and food is nice.
Delicious pub grub and amazing, efficient service - highly recommend and the best pub on this stretch of coastline. Food was really hot, tasty and fresh and served very quickly. The staff were also all amazing, so warm and friendly. Thank you Donna for taking care of us! Look forward to our next visit.
We are not usually complainers but this was a poor evening. Fair food for some, but over priced. Very slow service I think staff were busy, although very apologetic and polite. 45 minutes after ordering my food I was told there had been a mix up and my pie was no longer available. Tried to scan menu to see what else I would like to be told not available either so gave up and ordered a cheese burger (my mum's choice was not available either but she was told a few minutes after ordering). I think that my other family members meals were kept under a warmer because my mum's lamb, gravy and vegetables were cold on arrival. We were not asked if we were enjoying our food. We were thirsty but not asked if we wanted more drinks. After the meal we were asked and when I said my mum's food was cold we were offered free coffee but to be honest we were disappointed and wanted to leave so paid full price and will never return. Nice, friendly staff but chef should not allow food to leave the kitchen unless it's the right temperature
Stopped in for a Sunday lunch on our way back from a weekend in Croyde. Food was beautiful and fresh. Staff were so polite and going above and beyond to make sure we had a great meal. Already planning to eat here again next time we come to Croyde!
Without exception, every member of staff was delightful. The food was far more than pub grub. The vegan menu was superb to see and the kids menu was perfect. Our 4 year old was well looked after and his food was well prepared, not just an after thought. The sweet potatoe curry was delicious. And deserts were yum too. I don t often bother to write reviews but I m fussy about food and service so when it s done well, people should know about it.
Lovely location and fantastic service from the staff
Fantastic looking building, great food, lovely friendly staff. Will do some gluten free food if asked
Had the pleasure of coming here a few times now and never disappointed.
On our last visit we had the Sunday lunch platter for 2 which was fantastic.
Great location, building and atmosphere. Let down on the day by kitchen delays, cold food and the manager complaining about other customers.
over priced food for what you get. My food was delivered only at luke warm. dissapointed
Staff were great. Very helpful catering for my gluten free daughter. Good menu selection. Food was good
Very happy with the meals and service was okay given how busy they were - we took the opportunity to wander down to the estuary whilst waiting the half hour it took for our mains to arrive.
We all had different meals and they were all very good (see pics).
Would definitely come again.
A friendly welcome and we were allowed to take the dog into the bar area. Food is good, but can take a while. Great views if the weather allows you to sit outside.
Two meals were nice but third was awful. Found this place the most expensive we visited during our holiday but defiantly not the best.
Lovely atmosphere with great views and real open fire
Better now this pub has had a refresh, the food was a little over cooked hence 4 stars... Service not bad... Toilets upstairs .. !
Excellent service, brilliant food. Couldn't fault this restaurant.
Long wait for food. Half cleared table then forgot about us Very short of staff probably explains poor service
The service was good but food was not hot. Disappointing.
Amazing service, and the best pub food we ve had in Devon. Great experience (and thanks especially Donna for looking after us so well!!)
Ran out of stock of meat on a Sunday when they were advertising Sunday roast dinner.
Relaxed place to enjoy a meal and a drink friendly helpful staff
Stunning views for drinks but I wouldn't go for food again.
Lovely staff but food was cold and very poor quality
Been to the beach decided to have a meal on the way back. Beautiful meal and very welcomed to our dogs. Really popular a very busy day
Lovely meal and reasonable price. Staff leave you to yourself once you have your meal, but understandable in covid situation
Recently taken over, however the food standard has stayed the same, which is average at best, ideal outside area and a play area for children would be fantastic. The token effort of two swings that you can't even use is a bit of an anti climax, bags of potential but not there yet.
A nice pub restaurant on the tarka trail near chivenor nice views of the estray and good food.
Heaton Court has a huge car park and is just off the main road between Woolacombe and Barnstaple - it's also just off the Tarka cycle trail so ideal to call to for some refreshments after a long ride. The food was lovely and arrived promptly, also we didn't have to wait long to be served... We had no complaints and will definitely return there as we visit North Devon regularly.
Food lovely reasonably priced..good service...lovely wood fire
Alright food. Cosy feel in some areas. Friendly staff. Cheesy chips is overpriced and small portioned. Perhaps they are trying to tell me something haha! Great garden and perfect for cyclists
Nice place for a quick, quiet drink. With great views of the estuary. Food is OK very basic pub food but not good value for money abit over priced! It's a great spot to stop whilst riding between Barnstaple and Braunton.
My wife and I stopped in after a hike along the Tarka Trail. Soothing atmosphere and a nice place to crash
Covid times with large garden that you cannot use unless booked for the restaurant.
Garden must have one of the best views for mike's around. Wide range of beers and food, but once inside it does feel like a chain rather than a unique pub.
Stopped off here with my brother and my 2 children. My brother and I had steak&ale pie minus the steak!! I had one piece in mine the rest gravy and not alot of that either!! My brother had a few and was just tough and gristle! The chips just warm wouldn't recommend.
Visiting family and decided to go to Heanton Court for a meal as we had visited six months ago and had a excellent meal with excellent service. It has since been totally refurbished which has been done to a really high standard. Yet again this place delivered with excellent food and service.
Beautiful country pub and restaurant, extremely well kept, great character, fantastic food and a wonderful location. The tarka way leads right past the inn and makes a great stop off. Definitely worth a visit.
Welcoming staff , plenty of parking, great location, well stocked bar and a very lovely menu. A really good meal out for the husbands birthday. I had the calamari to start which was well cooked and presented perfectly followed by lobster fish cakes with new potatoes and broccoli, unfortunately the broccoli was a little under cooked for my taste but was certainly fresh and tasty. Too full for desert unlike one of our party who tucked into a delicious looking sticky toffee pudding. Lovely atmosphere and decor in keeping with the building. All in all I'd definitely recommend and will go back again.
Have been there many times,live locally,food mediocre,service good on whole,beer good,nice choice,
Old interesting building, friendly staff, large car Park, view over estuary, can walk from Tarka trail. Outside seating, selection beers, coffee.
Even though there was a limited menu due to lockdown, the food was awesome. This was our first visit, but will definitely be returning once lockdown is over. Staff were brilliant too, apologetic over menu choices, but it really wasn't a problem.
Great food and the staff were all lovely. Happy 45th anniversary Meal!!!!
Very pleasant staff enjoyable meal nice and relaxing atmosphere
Excellent food in a great location. Cycled from Barnstable to here for lunch and a beer! Plenty of tables outside to soak up the rays.
Lovely setting, wonderful views across estuary. Service is slow, food portions a bit small
Stopped on a bike ride for a drink. Prices are good. Food looked good. Very busy so not bad I guess. Nice garden area overlooking Taw river
Taken my mother to lunch here a couple of times its really nice.
There is a great menu combining pub classics and contemporary dishes. I had the belly pork which was excellent. The only slight downside was the wait: they were clearly understaffed today leading to lengthy queues at the bar and delays with the food. Having said that, the bar and restaurant staff were very professional and attentive. Overall, a very pleasurable experience.
