It is real share I have to write this as their tram system is brilliant.
The problem is their took payment for 4 day travel for my wife and myself twice and would not refund one of them.
We paid €42 online then was not certain if I activated them before I was in Amsterdam, so tried once outside Amsterdam rail station.
I could not activate them so went to their shop.
Waited in queue for 45 mins then the lady equally could not activate them.
So only other option was to buy some more tickets on the naive belief they clearly would refund the 42 euros as I had not activated them and never used them whilst in Amsterdam WRONG
Back in England I attempted to get a refund for the 42 euros.
They asked for copious proof that I had clearly paid for eight days travel when I only needed four days travel.
After wasting many hours in email exchanges they're said that we will not refund.
On reflection, they clearly had no intention of refunding because, apparently, I need to be permanently on an internet connection and it is my responsibility.
It does say that in their terms and conditions but, like a lot of people, I didn't read them.
I note from other Google reviews people feel the same as myself that they have had their money stolen.
I look forward to a management reply which undoubtedly I will not get.
I just cannot understand a firm of this size and basically and run a very good operation makes such an issue over 42 euros which I clearly had paid twice
I even said a gesture of good will could they refund the 42 euros and the still would not do anything.

Poorly informed staff... provided wrong info about buses.
I waited and purchased a round trip ride ticket as we needed to get from our hotel the next morning to the train station. The staff person sold me the round trip ticket and did not tell me that the next morning there were some buses not running. We ended up walking to the station with our bags as it was quicker than waiting for the next bus. Besides that, there seem to be two to three different bus companies in the city and they do not honor one another s tickets.
We found the bus system hard to use when we got here, in terms of purchasing a ticket, and again when leaving.
I made the point of going to the office by Centraal Station so as to avoid any problems on the day of departure.
Very, very busy, and crowded info center, where working service speed is fast paced. Friendly multilingual customer service
Super friendly staff
Unfortunately, this is not obvious. If you buy day tickets via GetYourGuide, you can only pick it up at Central Station and 3 other stations
Lovely people, very dedicated to their task of making sure visitors are properly informed. Had some problems trying to activate travel pass bought online but, like a real professional, the issue was identified, related and resolved without a fuss. Visited towards end of business on a busy day and was still greeted with a smile. If treated with respect, these people will go out of their way to help. Act like a tourist, rude and demanding, you will be given what you ask for but nothing more (witnessed, US citizen trying to act like a VIP, very rude and distressing to everybody in establishment).
A microcosm of the Dutch people and a resource to all visitors, to them, thank you for making my experience eventful.
Excellent service, clear instructions and directions. The ladies speak flawless English.
You get full information, and the people are friendly and kind......
Stupid company that basically cheat international tourists of their euros stored in the gvb card. Send the card back to them for refunds and they claimed they couldnt locate the card despite sending back to them via registered mail with tracking number!
Fast, friendly, competent. We bought the 4 day tickets here and got everything explained.
Nice staff, in case of problems will help you immediately
The woman at the desk was unecessary and unelpful, she just put us appart, we lose 120 by missing information by the staff...
Why GVB vending machine doesn t sell 5 -7 days ticket ? It sells only from the info centre which is very inconvenient for travellers.
Good information service, but the discription for the way to the bus was irritating.
For a country well verse in English, possessing an extensive public transportation infrastructure and a well connected payment system, I am surprised how confusing and inconsistent the information is. Generally tourist unfriendly and depending on who you have to get at the counter, the staff can be friendly and helpful to downright rude and unpleasant.
This service is very useful. I 100% suggest you get it because it is a very good value for money. The only problem that i faced was with their mobile application that is available only in Dutch. Their information office is right outside the central station and i suggest you go there and take the physical version of the ticket as i personally had issues with the electronic one on my phone. The staff at their offices are very nice and helpful. Their service is brilliant with loads of options ranging from buses to metros, ferries and trams throughout day and night. Really the best option for transportation in amsterdam and the best service.
Great service and friendly staff. Make sure to get a service ticket if there is a line.
Fast service even if we had to go see them to get a machine from a machine that had run out of money.
Unfriendly and not willing to help. Working time till 9pm, at 8:30pm they already had the sign Closed and referred customers to the website of GVB.
If you need tram tickets use the machines dotted around, the wait during peak times can be a long time, we queued for about an hour but staff are very helpful, just could do with more of them.
Taking 1 pass during your stay is the best way to visit the city ...
I was there several times at different times and the waiting time was very long
As a tourist to Amsterdam, I had no problem purchasing two 48-hour tickets. The staff spoke good English and it was a simple transaction.
Very helpful and friendly staff. Gave us tips on how we can save what. Top.
Definitely worth buying those transport passes when you are in Amsterdam, if you would like to explore the whole city.. Very friendly staff and was so helpful in deciding the type of tickets that we had to choose.
This is one of the first thing to do when you arrive in the city.
For people who never travel with the public transport not user-friendly enough. Upon return Arena is nowhere indicated that you have to scan your ticket, so 14, - paid too much.
Really super bad, you get advice where nothing is right, so you have to pay twice for the night bus and then also 3 times longer on the road. And also a bus that drives too early just before your nose so you have to wait 30 minutes longer. I'll just go by car again because then I'm just as expensive but I am 10 times faster at home and in the city.
Staff is either poorly informed or on purpose providing incomplete / incorrect information.
Subway delay for 3 days. Don't miss the last bus. Are you on Bijlmer you have to buy a train ticket to central .. you get central again everything again a map night bus and this just repeats .. oh 10euro travel costs extra and 2 hours in the cold what interests them ...
Very helpful and informative, get information and take your time.
This is the main place to buy public transport tickets in downtown Amsterdam, easy to find and helpful that it's next to the central station. However, I had to go back a second time as the employee who was rather rude when I was asking simple questions told me you can buy bus tickets on the bus with cash, which you cannot. She was insistant that we not buy paper tickets because they would get wrecked... It was an annoyance, but luckily I had a rental bike one day and was able to head back and get bus tickets that I would need the following day when leaving Amsterdam with all my luggage. The employees should be knowledgeable of the info they give out, especially considering how many tourists visit Amsterdam. Not to mention had I not had a bike it would've been a 30 min walk each way to my hotel.
If you want to buy 72 hours GVB ticket, Go this. Inside the tram or bus, You can buy only under 48 hours.
It is wonderful to be able to submit your questions to a real-life person who is knowledgeable and knowledgeable and who will arrange things for you on the spot. More authorities and companies should arrange that. Tribute GVB.
Fast, easy, friendly ...
In terms of price, it makes exactly 0 difference whether you reserve the GVB tickets in advance online or buy them on site, in a hotel or on the tram. If you order them in advance, you just have to pick them up from GVB, which makes ordering the internet extremely pointless ;-)) unless you have the tickets sent to you.
The GVB Center itself is tip top!
Extreme long waiting times. We prepaid our tickets and came to pick them up. Don't do that. Just buy the tickets when you get to Amsterdam. Almost no waiting time then.
It's kind, but it's a bit crowded (everywhere in the Netherlands).
Two years ago we needed to use GVB, there was a strike and we have no information about changing tickets etc. Then we went to the costumer service desk to ask, and the lady was really really unhelpuful and rude. I hope not all the staff are like her.
The personal tried to help but it wasn't clear the prices and the offers about GVB services.
Bad service, 30 minutes of queue to make 2 weekly tickets!
