Global Detroit: Building a Prosperous Southeast Michigan through Immigrant Inclusion

Global Detroit is a non-profit organization that aims to build a prosperous Southeast Michigan by promoting immigrant inclusion. The organization was founded in 2010 and has since been working towards creating an inclusive community where immigrants can thrive and contribute to the region's economic growth.

The mission of Global Detroit is to leverage the economic potential of immigrants in order to revitalize the region's economy. The organization believes that immigrants are an essential part of the community and can bring new ideas, skills, and perspectives that can help drive innovation and growth.

One of the key initiatives of Global Detroit is its Welcome Mat program, which provides resources and support for immigrant entrepreneurs who want to start or grow their businesses in Southeast Michigan. The program offers assistance with business planning, access to capital, marketing strategies, legal advice, and more.

Another important initiative of Global Detroit is its Global Talent Retention Initiative (GTRI), which aims to retain international students who come to study at universities in Southeast Michigan. GTRI provides career development services for these students so they can find employment opportunities after graduation. This helps keep talented individuals in the region who might otherwise leave due to lack of job prospects.

Global Detroit also works closely with local government officials and policymakers on issues related to immigration policy reform. The organization advocates for policies that promote immigrant inclusion while also addressing concerns around national security.

In addition, Global Detroit conducts research on various aspects related to immigration such as economic impact studies on immigrant-owned businesses or demographic trends among foreign-born residents in Southeast Michigan. This research helps inform policy decisions at both local and national levels.

Overall, Global Detroit plays a vital role in promoting immigrant inclusion as a means for building a prosperous future for Southeast Michigan. By leveraging the talents and skills of immigrants from diverse backgrounds, this non-profit organization is helping create an inclusive community where everyone has an opportunity to succeed.
