Garvey school district

Good district. Family type of environment where students and parents always feel welcome.

I m very upset with the staff from Monterey Vista Elementary School. My child is a kindergarten and in her second day of school she walked out thru the main entrance and NO ONE NOTICE!!! I was outside looking, waiting to see her thru a fence and next thing I know she s walking on the street going home. This school has NO COMMUNICATION with parents, we had NO ORIENTATION , no supply list pretty much NO DIRECTION of what the day is going to be like for the children. And not only that the front staff did not gave the medication list to the nurse so then they call me, accusing me of not turning in the medication list. I was really looking forward for my child to came to this school but know I have second thoughts about it. At least her teacher seems like she knows what s going on.

These schools teach me nothing but 4th grade stuff and the other school students are just cruel and if you even try and talk to their parents it won't work. Something is wrong and it needs to be fixed also. My friend says this school smells bad.

I'm am very disgusted with Garvey School District's Special Education program. I can give you a big tip. If you are NOT happy with their Special Education program, pull your child out and put them in regular education. The school has to allow your child to go back to regular education. I have done this with my child and she is in a wheel chair and diapers and needs a 1 on 1 aid. If all the parents that have children in special education pulled their child out and put them in regular education, we can make some noise and get a new administration. Also, you have the right to put your child back into Special Education at any time. I've done this twice already. After I put my child back in Special Education and nothing changed, I pulled her back out and now she is back in regular education. If you are concerned about your child NOT having a 1 on 1 aid, don't be. The 4th grade teachers there can change your child's diaper. Somethings we need to do this to make a point.

Good teachers. They are understanding and go out of their way to help my child.

Most of the staff are very helpful and friendly,well most. The people complaining should be grateful the education here is free and you complain but still take full advantage

This District was a nightmare to work at. The SPED admin was a joke she was too busy at all times when serious issues would arise or was her bestie of the counselors. When the issue was spoken of all they would say is your trying to run the class or try harder I would always remind them I was not hired as a teacher or sub. I'm not credentialed to teach! But that didn't matter since they couldn't ever hold any teachers. The pay is also NOT what they offer on the flyer its a lot LESS.

I worked here and it was the worst experience of my life. The people working at the district don t care about what s in the best interest of staff or students, they only care about what s in their best interest. If you raise a concern they will completely dismiss it and basically tell you it s a you problem. This district is so bad that people literally refer to it as the garvey way whenever things that make no sense whatsoever happen.

I have too many awful things to say about my experience working at this district. It s really bad, and everyone who works there knows it s bad. If the district administrators aren t concerned about how bad it is they really should be.
