Nice place. Has a full bar and dining area. The food is very good. Portions are not large, so big eaters might want to consider some appetizers.
The vibe and the interior is a little dated. It has a classic interior but hasn't been renovated in a while. It seemed to me the majority of the people there were elderly. So its quiet in the dining room.
They have a kids menu, and I had no problem feeding my 3 kids ages 14 to 3.
Only con really was I was seated closest to the door, and even though they have 2 sets of doors I would get a stiff breeze often (it was a cold night). This makes tables closest to the door a bad spot in the winter months.
Otherwise, its a very nice place to eat. Expect quality service, and food.

Nice, quiet restaurant. Service was quick and I really enjoyed my food! They have delicious homemade soups and bread also!

All the food was delicious and the service amazing! The hostess was super nice to my kids and that's always a plus. Our waitress was very good. The only thing we weren't crazy about was the creme brulee, we think they forgot to put the sugar on it that night, it has been delicious other times. Lol!

We were waited on promptly.There was little delay between courses and yes the food was excellent.Dessert size was challenging but I won!

This place is truly a fixture of the Madison community. I have been going here 4 over 30 years. The menu has gone through many changes as has the restaurant itself but one thing always Remains the Same, quality. The outdoor dining is a treat in the summer and the hot dog stand by the river never disappoints. Highly recommended

Food choices are great along with very friendly accommodating servers. Wish they still had the one in Hamden CT.

Light formal dining. Small bar. Great service. Looks less formal from outside and with the name Friends & Company it sounds a little more low key family friendly. We we're lucky our toddler behaved.

I had dinner with a close friend outside on the deck. Dining under the stars with excellent food and fine service made us very happy.

Whether it brunch, Lunch, or Dinner it's always delicious. I have been going there for about 36 years .

Fabulous dinner tonight at Friends and Company. Ahi tuna and fish tacos were outstanding! Brought a small blanket for the cozy outdoor patio. The service also could not have been any better!!

We ordered takeout tonight, Asian Tuna & Curry Coconut Shrimp with Shrimp & Sausage Gumbo. The food was fabulous!!! Thanks to Greg, Brian and staff for a wonderful meal and some time to forget the difficult times.

We just enjoyed a delicious meal by the river for Father s Day. We opted to sit by the river in lieu of the deck to not only keep our space during Covid but also because it gave our sons space to move around while we waited for the food. They delivered the drinks, including alcoholic beverages, and food as well as came out to check on us even though dining by the river is considered takeout. We changed tables half way through and the waitress came out and wiped down the table we once sat at for the safety of the next visitors. The food is delicious - highly recommend the vegetable fritters, crab cake appetizer as well as the assorted tacos.

Friends & Company is a fantastic restaurant - great for 'first dates', Pre Prom or plane old 'have a night away from cooking'. Casual to suit and tie. Party of two or p[arty of 20. Comfortable atmosphere, attentive service and great food. Servings are generally more than the customer can eat, while prices are very affordable and reasonable.The fresh bread is a MUST.

We went there for the first time last nite and I have to say we really enjoyed the food and service !....Little bit of an older crowd but apparently they know were the good food is ! My only complaint and its minor was the tiramisu not the best but i ate it all anyway !...Definitely will be back !

Waitress had a FEW too many Bloody Mary's lol ;) otherwise atmosphere was welcoming, presentation was lovely, and portion size was good. Looking forward to coming back.

Horrible... every time I've been there and complained about crummy service.. food taking much too long, horrible manager walking around always says next time it'll be better but is Very disappointing !!!

Crab burger was alright, the sweet potato fries were great. Shrimp cocktail had a damaged shrimp in it with very little cocktail sauce. The goat cheese salad was fair. Overall we were disappointed and will not return.

I'll preface this with the fact that the staff is extremely friendly and thoughtful, and the food is good. I'd definitely return when the outside deck is open again. Now to the warning, the crowd of regulars is... older ...much older. To the point that we we're apologized to since it was assumed we must have been uncomfortable and I'm hardly a child at 35. Now don't let that stop you from visiting, the fireplace was cozy, and the food and friendly staff are welcoming. You just want to be warned if you are younger and maybe come at a less busy time so you aren't out numbered so much haha. We we're told the crowd is much different in the warmer months, so we'll certainly have to come find out then. I really do appreciate their consideration. Though to me it was mostly amusing since it was so unexpected it was comical.

We were not to sure of this place because of the mixed reviews. We were so glad we went. The food was delicious. Freshly made and piping hot. We highly recommend it. A bit pricey but worth it.

Mussels were great lunch overall was very enjoyable. Worth a visit for sure...

Very welcoming atmosphere. Quiet enough that the older folks in our large party could hear and be part of the conversation. Service was excellent, food is delicious, and they let us take our time once we got our food.

Great in house made food! Plus they have delicious bread made on site. There are views of the river from the deck in the summer and a fireplace for winter coziness.

I never tasted lobster. I saw some ideas of lobster... but for the $27 price tag.. I wasn't pleased.

The food was only okay and I paid a decent amount. The atmosphere is very quiet and awkward. It is an elderly crowd, there was nobody under the age of 40 there. There mud pie is amazing though!

Very relaxed atmosphere, great food at reasonable pricing makes this place a perfect spot to grab a bite for lunch or dinner. Lots of old and decorative wood in the bar area. They have happy hour and late night bites as well.

Friends and company has a wonderful, cozy atmosphere. The food is very good. The wait staff here is friendly and pleasant. I have dined there many many times and I've never left their dissatisfied. I have been there with a large group and I have also been there with just my husband and myself.

We came to this restaurant with high expectations and I can't give it more than three.
We didn't feel the service was at its best and the dishes did not blew us away. I think some of it is because we went on a Sunday night and kind of late, not the best time to go to any restaurant, but we were expecting more regardless.
Might go Back.

Good food, a little pricey. I went my wife and some friends. There is a much older crowd at this establishment. There was no one under the age of 45 in resturant and at bar. A good about this place is the views of long Island sound.

I have eaten here many times and the food is always delicous. The staff are great and friendly and it is a great place to eat in any situation. Whether you want a nice romantic evening or a fun summer outing with friends, this is the right place for you.

The atmosphere is lovely both inside and out on the porch. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. The only reason this isn't a five star review is because the fried mozzarella came with a disappointingly inadequate amount of sauce, and even despite that it was still enjoyable.

The Sunday brunch was excellent. The salmon cakes Benedict were delicious. The desserts were all great!

I visited this restaurant for dinner with my wife and we ordered a Spec Salmon and Goat CH Spec, It was delicious and tasty also we ordered desert called MUD PIE, it s amazing and delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful. We spend a great night and we will back again in the future.
