Foster Kinship is a non-profit organization that provides support and resources to kinship caregivers in Nevada. With over 38,000 children unable to live at home with their parents, Foster Kinship helps keep home in the family by empowering relatives who open their hearts and homes to these children.
Kinship care refers to the care of children by relatives or close family friends when their parents are unable to provide for them. This type of care is becoming increasingly common as more and more families face challenges such as substance abuse, mental illness, incarceration, or death. While kinship caregivers offer a stable and familiar environment for these children, they often face unique challenges themselves.
Foster Kinship recognizes the importance of supporting kinship caregivers so that they can provide the best possible care for these vulnerable children. The organization offers a range of services including information and referral services, support groups, educational workshops, legal assistance referrals, respite care vouchers, emergency financial assistance grants and much more.
