The Sunrise Beach bungalows are simple yet nice and large, well designed and set in gorgeous lush gardens less than a 1 minute walk to the beach.
The reception was exceptional, kind and was so accommodating they all went well beyond my expectations to make my stay memorable.
I also did the discovery dive with Raphael through forra dive, it was well priced and we got to do a few dives on some of the most stunning reefs in Thailand. It wasn't crowded and he was so caring and informative.
If you want traditional, clean and beautiful accommodation with big shower and friendly staff don't miss this place.

Really nice, spacious, clean and well maintained bungalow. Perfect location: secluded bungalow but less than a stone's throw from the beach and not far from the main road where all the services. Staff available. Highly recommended doing diving through this structure that works with trained and capable instructors, in particular we found ourselves very well with Asia.
Aspect, in my opinion, which gives the structure more points is the possibility to fill its own bottle for free of water at the reception every time you need it. This helps to considerably reduce the production of plastic waste, which, given the general conditions of certain Thai islands, is a problem that cannot be assessed below!
I would go back there more than willingly.

The owner of the diving school is an arrogant Frenchman who is not interested in the customers, but mainly for the money! Very unsympathetic and unprofessional! I was left alone at 30m without dive computer and the owner, as well as the other participants went to 50m plus deep and he said to me that I'll see him and the others already and from a distance of good 20m !! just follow the group !! alone !! but of course I did not see the group from this distance and was forced to dive to 50m !! Had some things gone wrong !! Just irresponsible and far from professional !!! Please find another diving school !!!!

I rented a snorkel and flippers here but after 10 min in the water, I realised that I couldn t really swim with the flippers so I went back and returned them. Then I went swimming for 2 hours with just the snorkel and when I came back to pay, they said that I had to pay for the flippers too because they had to wash them . I tried reasoning with them that that s quite unfair since I only had them for 10 mins but they insisted I pay for them and the guy was quite rude about it too. So I suggest you go rent your stuff at walking street, it s half price there and the people are friendlier.

Very friendly owners and managers. We got dropped off right next to it. We didn't have a booking but there were plenty of rooms (in June low season). About 2 min walk to the beach 5/10 min walk to walking street. No WiFi in the room had to go to the main bar area for that. Warm showers had a lovely stay.

I had an unforgettable time in this place. Some very friendly locals have a drink in the evening and have generously made me discover their island. The dive center is very professional. My experience with Agatha was perfect, she was able to explain everything very clearly, in summer reassuring and very kind. Thank you for all the beautiful memories that I could make here!

The diving is 4 stars, accommodation is 2, so 3 in total. Dive spots are superb, clear water with incredible fish, hard and soft coral, we saw a sea turtle, many lion fish, sea snakes, barracuda and loads more. The boat is huge and spacious and instructors are super friendly and knowledgeable. The gear however is pretty worn and I'm surprised to be handled a half chewed through mouth piece and BCD with broken straps. Why is that not identified and fixed during regular maintenance/checks? As for the resort the huts are quite nice with simple bamboo construction but concrete flooring in the bathroom with open air shower. However, the sea gypsy village is two meters away and they play super loud music until 1.30 am at their pleasure, and the rest of the time until dawn the dogs and roosters make sure you have no sleep at all. Expect no sleep the first two, three nights and then you'll pretty much pass out any more nights you stay there. Other resorts with more space between you and the sea gypsies is a better option if you like to sleep at night. I mean no disrespect to the sea gypsies, they were there first and should be free to do as they please.

Thailand feeling pure, of course, this is not a hotel but simple accommodation but in the night without climate is nice and cool and many experienced Divemaster on the day, on the boat everything is great, all friendly and accommodating. I could only look forward to Meier's professionalism, here diving is practiced as a passion. Unfortunately, I had found this base too late and previously in another center (read my review, then you see which I mean), I found each TG here as fantastic, as DM I got even without asking directly discount, so I The price performance ratio is excellent, here man gets real money, which reflects the passion of each of the staff.

Absolute recommendation from me. So to speak, the insider tip as a dive center.

Booked a disappointed snorkelling trip: price was higher than further down the street for less service. We ve been told there will be max 8 people on the boat - there were 10 in the end.
We were told full equipment is provided, and it was confirmed twice there will be fins on the boat. When we got to the snorkelling site, we discovered there were no fins on the boat, and the current was too strong to explore the site. Not ok

The Forra Dive Resto is located on Sunrise beach, next to the schools in front of the islet ko Kra.
It is a wooden building that houses the diving center, with a beautiful terrace restaurant.

I went for a swim in ko Kra, and asked the friendly restaurant staff where it was possible to leave a towel and change clothes.
On the way back I took advantage of the restaurant for an excellent house sandwich.
I would also have had a massage, but the therapists were busy.

We stayed in the bungalows one night and dove two days with the attached shop so this is a double review.

The bungalows are the definition of basic. This is basically one step above camping in a tent. All bamboo construction including the floors. I was actually worried that I might break through! Room has a light, a fan (sadly not strong enough to blow through the heavy insect netting around the bed, so choose insect bites or lying in a pool of sweat...) and a private bathroom. Staff is really friendly and this place has a really laid back vibe. There is a small bar/kitchen in the middle of the group of bungalows. It's a 3 to 4 minute walk down the road to the beach and the dive shop.

The dive shop is also pretty basic but everyone was very friendly and helpful. They have two dive boats, both large enough to walk around on and get comfortable. As with most things on Koh Lipe it's all a bit old and sketchy! They are a PADI shop and of course offer certification. They also had some Free-Diving (not no cost, diving without SCUBA gear) courses when we were there but I think that all depends on a specific instructor so call before you trust that they still offer it.

The dive shop has a bar and kitchen, plus hammocks and bean bag chairs to hang out on.

Did our open water diving ticket here with my family the dive instructor John was very thorough with certification. Dive boats are quite large when organising dives they will drop you off and pick you up from a variety of spots so everyone is not dropped in the same spot which is good. Pick you up down current so you don't have to fight your way back. Felt safe and well looked after with this team thank you Valerie.

We enjoyed nice dives with 2 professional dive masters. It was well ornagized, the equipment was in good condition and on the boat they offered lunch, fresh fruits, limited coffee and tea. So far it was a good day, with the service which is usual for diving tours in Thailand.
BUT:
Within our last dive, in a deept of approx. 15m, our dive master had no air and needed help from the group. She had panic in her eyes and shocked tbe whole group by showing no air sign.
After the dive she figgured out that one of the dive center team members closed the valve of her air tank before she jumped into the water.

We do not know, was it a joke or a test by her colleagues. But making fun with safety and risking her life for nothing is definitely absolutely unprofessinal. Such a colleague should not continue working for a scuba dive center.
The mood on the boat was killed after that dive.

Very basic hostel. Worth d money. Quite far from night market (500m).
They will offer snorkelling package (pls dont accept it, they offer it for 500bath - no mineral water, no lunch pack, very basic snorkelling items, wt that price u may have better option at lipe walking street).
