Fog Crest Vineyard is a family-owned winery located in the Russian River Valley of Sonoma County, California. The history of Fog Crest Vineyard dates back to 1998 when Jim and Rosalind Manoni purchased a 30-acre property in the Russian River Valley. They were drawn to this location because of its unique microclimate, which is ideal for growing Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. The couple planted their first vines in 1999, and by 2005 they had produced their first vintage.
Today, Fog Crest Vineyard has grown to include over 10 acres of vineyards that are meticulously tended by Jim Manoni himself. He believes that great wine starts with great grapes, so he takes great care to ensure that his vines are healthy and producing high-quality fruit.
One thing that sets Fog Crest Vineyard apart from other wineries is their commitment to sustainability. They use only organic farming practices in their vineyards, which means no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers are used on their crops. This not only helps protect the environment but also ensures that their wines are free from harmful chemicals.
Fog Crest Vineyard produces two main varietals: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Their Chardonnays are known for being rich and full-bodied with notes of tropical fruit, vanilla, and oak. Their Pinot Noirs are elegant with flavors of cherry, raspberry, spice, and earthy undertones.
In addition to these two main varietals, Fog Crest also produces limited quantities of other wines, including a Rosé of Pinot Noir and a Sparkling Brut. These wines are only available to members of their wine club or at the winery itself.
