Where do I begin. Paying to be locked in a room sounds bizarre to say the least, but one would presume this came with some stimulating and puzzling clause. After visiting other escape rooms in the area, perhaps I had become accustomed to the calibre of such escape rooms such as pier pressure, where the host is enthusiastic and dressed in theme, they are engaging throughout and the room itself features multi-layered puzzles across a variety of mediums. The same cannot be said for the escape game Brighton. The host was disinterested, the main theme was interrupted by an electronic device that we were assured was not part of the game, as we were warned against touching electrical devices. We later found out that said electronic device ( whilst irrelevant to the theme) was, in fact, the main precipitator to our success! It is worth noting that, had it not been for this lazy attempt at a puzzle, we would have finished the entire game in about 15 minutes, rendering our gratuitous fee deeply upsetting.
TLDR: it's better at pier pressure. Dont waste your money unless you have a particular interest in imbibing other peoples sweat.

Excellent escape room (we went for the Murder at the Pier - The Revenge) room, with great theming/atmosphere in the room and a good mix of searching, logic and lateral thinking required. Great level of challenge, our team managed it in under 50 mins.
Took half an hour to figure out what the hell to do, then when you did, it was over in ten minutes
Had great fun there, 3 interesting puzzle rooms to choose from. But the rooms can get quite hot on a sunny day
Fun, good for groups. Tricky for a first go but you start to get used to the way it works and not over thinking things!
Nice place
Done 2 of the rooms
Not easy for non experts
Great fun, finished with just over a minute to go. Not cheap, but what is these days
Let me paint you a picture.
You've spent the morning at an exceptional escape room filled with challenging and inventive puzzles that gave you and your team a great sense of accomplishment.
You loved it so much you decide you want to do another one! You scour the internet to find any availability on a Sunday and you stumble across Escape game Brighton!
You call...you all again.... You call 17 more times... You message on Facebook... YES they have a slot for your team!
Not quite the experience of some of the larger, more established places in London but.. it was fun all the same.
A great challenge, maybe a little overpriced and the host could have been more excited and engaging. Had a great time though and a nice family experience.
Enjoyable escape room. Was well thought out and at a sensible level, not random abstract connections like some other places. There are 3 rooms, so large groups can split and all go at the same time. Would go again and do the other rooms.
Was a wonderful day out for me and my friends. We had a blast trying to solve the puzzles.
If you get a chance try it out, haven't laughed so much in ages, great fun
Absolutely loved it. Had a great time. Would highly recommend!!
Not disappointed a bit complicated but not disappointed really fun game to do with family or friends
Overpriced puzzles not remotely thought out
No atmosphere
Host sounded bored
Don t bother
Alright escape game, puzzles are fun but not much atmosphere
Great for a hen do activity. Well organised, challenging but lots of fun.
Poor value for money, room shabby and that's being generous. Staff member more interested in his dinner than guests. No secure place for bags. Dirty, entrance and steps filthy. Room was missing bits, and tatty. Flowers did not match, ripped wall art. Dated and poor. Would never attend again, was embarrassed that I had taken a friend who had never done escape room, explained this is the WORST I have ever done. Other Brighton ones are in another world entirely. Don't bother with this one. LIFE TOO SHORT
Great fun for friends and family. Worth the price and fab staff would recommend.
Really good game and very helpful staff. Great location for dinner and drinks after.
We had fun but some of the clues didn't work properly or were impossible to see (like a very dark film with hand gestures which you couldn't see).
Quite good value with Groupon voucher although was considerably less high tech than others I have done. Would be ideal for kids.
Bitterly disappointed with our visit. The host wasn't welcoming, friendly or even remotely enthusiastic. The room itself was nothing but padlock tasks which was difficult in poor lighting - there was no variety, and half of the padlocks didn't work properly. Compared to other escape rooms we have done, this seemed very over priced for something that was completely underwhelming
Decided to do an escape room for a birthday. Booked online, extremely easy.
Eventually found the entrance, tucked down a flight of stairs.
We picked the return of the mad scientist, which is apparently thier mid level game that is based on a scientist ready to unleash carnage on the streets of Brighton.
Really makes you think, we started by ransacking the room to find clues and unlock boxes which had more clues and puzzles inside.
I had never done an escape room before and was a bit dubious. After this experience I will be looking to do more!
Have done two of the rooms here. Definitely the worst of my 15 or so escape room experiences, and the worst in Brighton by far. The rooms are tiny with very few puzzles, the hosts are uninterested and everything feels low rent/phoned in. It s a competitive market and these guys need to step it up! The other two companies in Brighton offer a much better experience
Really enjoyed the escape room. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was good fun and a good challenge would highly recommend
Team building excercise! Had great fun with the murder mystery room which is the hard one, with a good plot line. Puzzles were challenging, even using projectors. Heard the other rooms were too easy.
A thoroughly enjoyable clues and logic puzzle-solving experience in a Victorian setting. My brain was glowing afterwards! It would have been 5-star if the guy who welcomed us at the door was 'in costume' (even if just acting) as he welcomed us into the ante-room / office since this would have started the experience even earlier and put us in the mood. But well worth it and I want to go back and try the more challenging escape room puzzle that they have.
Not a bad escape room overall. Parking tricky as in central Brighton but had fun when we visited.
We did the Murder on the Pier room. Puzzles were ok, but room was very weakly themed and a bit tatty. With that title we were hoping for a more Brighton connection. A couple of pictures that should not have been movable came off the wall. Also there was one element that had been broken and an alternative provided, but the broken original was still there which was slightly confusing.
Game was fun but not overly challenging. Staff could have been more enthusiastic and not as friendly as other escape rooms I've done
We turned up to the office and was greeted by a man who clearly didn't want to be there, we then proceeded to the escape room which looked like it had been designed by a child. The only think I wanted to escape was this experience with a refund. Black Justice
OK, you get put in a room in a converted flat just off Preston Street. Follow the clues to find the murderer. More of a mystery than crystal maze.
Excellent Escape Game, they have updated their games recently and they are top notch. Great fun!
While this sort of activity isn't my sort of thing I had a lot of fun with my friends and I'm sure most people would enjoy it. The staff were friendly and the set-up is nice, it only loses a point as the place could have done with a bit of a vacuum plus it's in a area with expensive parking so plan ahead to get the best deal.
It's good. They need to spend money on some signage outside and a 'mind your head' sign as you walk down the stairs.
But on the whole really enjoyed it.
Overpriced and unprofessional. Was running late, had one grumpy guy handling two rooms, had to wait outside, toilet didn't flush, room was pretty poor compared to others. Didnt answer when we asked for a hint because he was handling the other room at the same time. When he did get to us, had no idea where we had got to in the room, so asked us loads of questions. Slight spoiler, difficult to make out detail on the projector, which was projecting black and white images into a grey wall. Big disappointment overall
Was taken here for my birthday and had lots of fun. Had never done an Escape Game before this but have since done more... A great way to spend an hour!
Perfect experience. Host was very welcoming, charismatic and informative not sure what the other reviews are about but every employee I met was loud, happy, funny and generally above decent. The room was dynamic and brilliantly designed for a first timer. Me, my brother, step sister and mother all had a blast and will definitely be coming back to try the other rooms next year!
Excellent escape rooms range from easy to more difficult where the clues are much more subtle.and hints generally required.
We did the escape room over 2 weeks ago on a staurday, we entered into a lacklustre atmosphere, the guy with the semi American accent added to this atmosphere by saying, "hold on I need to sort the room out,"
The room was tired and dirty, hidden in the cupboard covered by a sheet was a pile of old junk, nothing to do with the game, we have done about 8 escape rooms over the last few years, this by far was the worst.
There is no cctv, so if your bored just ask for a clue, we ended up escaping even after missing 2 clues.
Gave it 2 stars as Brighton is naturally great and the weather was nice.
Had a brilliant time here a definite must for the adventure types and possibly a great idea for a first date
I *really* enjoyed the wildwest game, just the right amount of challenging. Great afternoon out for mums birthday.
More entertaining than I thought it would be. Clues are cryptic but with a bit of time to try various theories it's possible to crack all the locks in a decent time without calling for a hint. I would be interested in returning to try a different room sometime. Definitely recommend it.
The revenge at the pier game is terrible; doesn't flow, the dial locks are stiff and some are impossible to turn, and there is one point that requires very fine co-ordination in a tight space with no light. However the mad scientist room is very enjoyable.
Felt let down by this experience
The games master was late, not overly apologetic, clearly bored and didn't want to be at work. Didn't feel welcome. The room wasn't amazing, didn't make alot of sense. There are definitely better rooms out there.
It works despite the lack of camera in the activity
Like Jim carrey said, "i've had better" worthing is much much better,
Felt incredibly illegitimate, was located in what looked like a uni flats basement and as we went to the so called escape room we could see the junk mail all over the floor of the front door which showed how little the host cared. As for More
Reasonable price but the room was tiny and didn't have many puzzles to solve.
This is the poorest escape room I've done by far. We were asked to be there 10 minutes early and yet weren't let in until 10 minutes past our appointment time. The host then said he had to setup the rooms, more waiting. He didn't seem to really care very much and was about as charismatic as a wet shoe. The room itself was pretty poor and shabby. The puzzles were bizarrely obtuse, had pointless red herrings that made no sense and there was no sense of any kind of narrative running through. The clues themselves also suggested things using incorrect terminology such as "test the magnetic resonance...." which made zero sense with the tools available.
In addition to this the whole venue felt like walking into a student bedsit, no effort had been made to make it feel like a themed event. This felt like someone had been told what an escape room was and tried to recreate it. Left a sour taste in the mouth for the rest of the evening just being angry at how bad it was compared to others we'd done.
Save your money and do something else instead!
Didnt think I would enjoy it but had a great time. Not too hard but not too easy either!
First time doing an escape room, really good experience! Finished with a second to spare with a little help.
Good fun way to spend an hour or so. We didn't have a clue what we were doing at first, so good job the guy was there to help just the right amount.
Three different rooms to try, fun with a group of people.
Pretty much a student flat. Puzzle were good but all of use were convinced there was a mistake in one of them. Guy running it didn't seem happy to be there and it wasn't cheap for what it was. Was fun but won't be doing it again
Good escape room with friendly owners. Can be hard to find as the sign is a little small. Good price and a lot of fun
A fun and challenging escape game. Some clever puzzles!
Really fun and enjoyed the puzzles but the room could have had a better look and feel.
Took us a while to properly get going as some of us were hungover but was good fun with challenging puzzles. The secret agent one was more challenging than the wild west one.
Staff member not very enthusiastic, place could do with improving better rooms.
Great little set up and good fun - be warned though, it makes you feel dumb after! :D
Very disappointing....
Left wondering if the guy is actually squatting in this building
First challenge was getting to the basement door without injury.
Broken handrail, flooded entrance...
The host
Not sure you could even call it a welcome, I thought maybe we had woken him up
Pretty sure he doesn t love his job and he has the charisma of a speed bump.
Very poorly maintained building.
The game room itself was basic, very minimal effort with decor / atmosphere.
But if you need anything you can ask via a baby monitor
Basically had to work out various combinations to open around 8 padlocks, game didn t flow and not enough for 6 people to do.
I dont even know where to begin...
Very poorly maintained building, converted house with tiny rooms...the toilet absolutely stank of mould, there was a pile of unopened post on the floor by front door, cobwebs everywhere, decor would have been better painted by my 5 year old, holes in the flooring...
The game itself was OK but was just padlocks...very amateur and poor quality.
Would not recommend.
Wish I'd read the reviews before going. We went to murder on the pier. Can only agree with others - unfortunately the worst escape room we've been to. Room tatty, poor story, poor puzzles some of which hadn't been reset properly prior to game starting. Other 'mechanical' props didn't work. Host had to enter room on two occasions to reset/fix. Host was clearly fed up and trying to run 3 rooms simultaneously so when we asked for a clue there was delayed or no response. We couldn't wait to escape but for all the wrong reasons. On the plus side was a belly laugh because it was so dire.
Very professional and my daughter friends loved it.
Had a great time, would definitely recommend, would have liked to do a2nd room too
Excellant past time would recommend as an actovity for any group
This place looks and feels disgusting on the face of it but overall we were impressed. Who cares about the toilet and building in all honesty? The game itself was challenging and great fun. We did the murder on the pier one in about 40mins. They should give you a complete percentage because we were asking for a clue a bit early because we were unaware how much we had left to do and thought we were running out of time. Turns out we had quite a bit in the bag.
There are better escape rooms in Brighton, this one is a bit small and tatty. Overpriced compared to other rooms which have better quality games and theming.
