Where do I begin. Paying to be locked in a room sounds bizarre to say the least, but one would presume this came with some stimulating and puzzling clause. After visiting other escape rooms in the area, perhaps I had become accustomed to the calibre of such escape rooms such as pier pressure, where the host is enthusiastic and dressed in theme, they are engaging throughout and the room itself features multi-layered puzzles across a variety of mediums. The same cannot be said for the escape game Brighton. The host was disinterested, the main theme was interrupted by an electronic device that we were assured was not part of the game, as we were warned against touching electrical devices. We later found out that said electronic device ( whilst irrelevant to the theme) was, in fact, the main precipitator to our success! It is worth noting that, had it not been for this lazy attempt at a puzzle, we would have finished the entire game in about 15 minutes, rendering our gratuitous fee deeply upsetting.

TLDR: it's better at pier pressure. Dont waste your money unless you have a particular interest in imbibing other peoples sweat.

Poor value for money, room shabby and that's being generous. Staff member more interested in his dinner than guests. No secure place for bags. Dirty, entrance and steps filthy. Room was missing bits, and tatty. Flowers did not match, ripped wall art. Dated and poor. Would never attend again, was embarrassed that I had taken a friend who had never done escape room, explained this is the WORST I have ever done. Other Brighton ones are in another world entirely. Don't bother with this one. LIFE TOO SHORT

Bitterly disappointed with our visit. The host wasn't welcoming, friendly or even remotely enthusiastic. The room itself was nothing but padlock tasks which was difficult in poor lighting - there was no variety, and half of the padlocks didn't work properly. Compared to other escape rooms we have done, this seemed very over priced for something that was completely underwhelming

Decided to do an escape room for a birthday. Booked online, extremely easy.
Eventually found the entrance, tucked down a flight of stairs.
We picked the return of the mad scientist, which is apparently thier mid level game that is based on a scientist ready to unleash carnage on the streets of Brighton.
Really makes you think, we started by ransacking the room to find clues and unlock boxes which had more clues and puzzles inside.
I had never done an escape room before and was a bit dubious. After this experience I will be looking to do more!

Have done two of the rooms here. Definitely the worst of my 15 or so escape room experiences, and the worst in Brighton by far. The rooms are tiny with very few puzzles, the hosts are uninterested and everything feels low rent/phoned in. It s a competitive market and these guys need to step it up! The other two companies in Brighton offer a much better experience

A thoroughly enjoyable clues and logic puzzle-solving experience in a Victorian setting. My brain was glowing afterwards! It would have been 5-star if the guy who welcomed us at the door was 'in costume' (even if just acting) as he welcomed us into the ante-room / office since this would have started the experience even earlier and put us in the mood. But well worth it and I want to go back and try the more challenging escape room puzzle that they have.

We did the Murder on the Pier room. Puzzles were ok, but room was very weakly themed and a bit tatty. With that title we were hoping for a more Brighton connection. A couple of pictures that should not have been movable came off the wall. Also there was one element that had been broken and an alternative provided, but the broken original was still there which was slightly confusing.

While this sort of activity isn't my sort of thing I had a lot of fun with my friends and I'm sure most people would enjoy it. The staff were friendly and the set-up is nice, it only loses a point as the place could have done with a bit of a vacuum plus it's in a area with expensive parking so plan ahead to get the best deal.

Overpriced and unprofessional. Was running late, had one grumpy guy handling two rooms, had to wait outside, toilet didn't flush, room was pretty poor compared to others. Didnt answer when we asked for a hint because he was handling the other room at the same time. When he did get to us, had no idea where we had got to in the room, so asked us loads of questions. Slight spoiler, difficult to make out detail on the projector, which was projecting black and white images into a grey wall. Big disappointment overall

Perfect experience. Host was very welcoming, charismatic and informative not sure what the other reviews are about but every employee I met was loud, happy, funny and generally above decent. The room was dynamic and brilliantly designed for a first timer. Me, my brother, step sister and mother all had a blast and will definitely be coming back to try the other rooms next year!

We did the escape room over 2 weeks ago on a staurday, we entered into a lacklustre atmosphere, the guy with the semi American accent added to this atmosphere by saying, "hold on I need to sort the room out,"

The room was tired and dirty, hidden in the cupboard covered by a sheet was a pile of old junk, nothing to do with the game, we have done about 8 escape rooms over the last few years, this by far was the worst.

There is no cctv, so if your bored just ask for a clue, we ended up escaping even after missing 2 clues.

Gave it 2 stars as Brighton is naturally great and the weather was nice.

More entertaining than I thought it would be. Clues are cryptic but with a bit of time to try various theories it's possible to crack all the locks in a decent time without calling for a hint. I would be interested in returning to try a different room sometime. Definitely recommend it.

Felt let down by this experience
The games master was late, not overly apologetic, clearly bored and didn't want to be at work. Didn't feel welcome. The room wasn't amazing, didn't make alot of sense. There are definitely better rooms out there.

This is the poorest escape room I've done by far. We were asked to be there 10 minutes early and yet weren't let in until 10 minutes past our appointment time. The host then said he had to setup the rooms, more waiting. He didn't seem to really care very much and was about as charismatic as a wet shoe. The room itself was pretty poor and shabby. The puzzles were bizarrely obtuse, had pointless red herrings that made no sense and there was no sense of any kind of narrative running through. The clues themselves also suggested things using incorrect terminology such as "test the magnetic resonance...." which made zero sense with the tools available.

In addition to this the whole venue felt like walking into a student bedsit, no effort had been made to make it feel like a themed event. This felt like someone had been told what an escape room was and tried to recreate it. Left a sour taste in the mouth for the rest of the evening just being angry at how bad it was compared to others we'd done.

Save your money and do something else instead!

Very disappointing....
Left wondering if the guy is actually squatting in this building
First challenge was getting to the basement door without injury.
Broken handrail, flooded entrance...
The host
Not sure you could even call it a welcome, I thought maybe we had woken him up
Pretty sure he doesn t love his job and he has the charisma of a speed bump.
Very poorly maintained building.
The game room itself was basic, very minimal effort with decor / atmosphere.
But if you need anything you can ask via a baby monitor
Basically had to work out various combinations to open around 8 padlocks, game didn t flow and not enough for 6 people to do.

I dont even know where to begin...

Very poorly maintained building, converted house with tiny rooms...the toilet absolutely stank of mould, there was a pile of unopened post on the floor by front door, cobwebs everywhere, decor would have been better painted by my 5 year old, holes in the flooring...

The game itself was OK but was just padlocks...very amateur and poor quality.

Would not recommend.

Wish I'd read the reviews before going. We went to murder on the pier. Can only agree with others - unfortunately the worst escape room we've been to. Room tatty, poor story, poor puzzles some of which hadn't been reset properly prior to game starting. Other 'mechanical' props didn't work. Host had to enter room on two occasions to reset/fix. Host was clearly fed up and trying to run 3 rooms simultaneously so when we asked for a clue there was delayed or no response. We couldn't wait to escape but for all the wrong reasons. On the plus side was a belly laugh because it was so dire.

This place looks and feels disgusting on the face of it but overall we were impressed. Who cares about the toilet and building in all honesty? The game itself was challenging and great fun. We did the murder on the pier one in about 40mins. They should give you a complete percentage because we were asking for a clue a bit early because we were unaware how much we had left to do and thought we were running out of time. Turns out we had quite a bit in the bag.
