I guess everyone has their own experience. My employer chose this company, therefore we had no option. However, our experience with them has been pretty good. They have always been helpful and available to answer any questions and take time with me as a client. Our funds were invested well and grew in a short time, as well. So we are no longer with the same company we were with, but have decided to keep using Envoy services. They are loyal, helpful, and trustworthy.

Even though my non-profit has contracted with Envoy to manage our 403b, I find it very hard to invest with them. It is actually a disincentive to set money aside. Why? Retirement plan administrators make money off the plans they sell. In this case, we have a quite small administrator by industry standards owned by a single individual, who has vertically diversified in related companies who provide the full range of services. Christian rhetoric (which many of us are good at, by the way) notwithstanding, they have already been caught by the SEC misleading investors. And when I read their responses to reviews, I don't see, "We did wrong." I don't see, "Sorry, that was bad." Why would I trust an unrepentant, proven untrustworthy manager with my money? It's better to forgo a tax advantage than to jeopardize the principal. These same managers have many obscure opportunities to cheat, and a good sales pitch to Christians is nowhere near as good an indicator of future behavior as past behavior and a lack of repentance. These are not the advisors and custodians I'm looking for. Still, past performance is no guarantee of future results, so let's make this a charitable two star review, and they are after all, as many other reviews state, "nice people."
Update: Envoy has now "merged" with a for profit wealth manager firm. Expect cross-selling, i.e. pitching customers multiple offerings to make more money. First one I saw--opting in participants into more expensive "social action" funds instead of lower cost index funds.
