Elrha is a global charity that is dedicated to finding innovative solutions to complex humanitarian problems through research and innovation. The organization was founded in 2011, with the aim of bringing together experts from different fields to work towards a common goal of improving the lives of people affected by crises.
At Elrha, we believe that research and innovation are key drivers for change in the humanitarian sector. We work closely with our partners and stakeholders to identify gaps in knowledge and practice, and then develop innovative solutions that can be scaled up for maximum impact.
Our approach is based on three core principles: collaboration, innovation, and impact. We believe that by working together with other organizations, researchers, practitioners, and communities affected by crises, we can achieve more than any one organization could on its own. By fostering a culture of innovation within our organization and among our partners, we are able to develop new ideas and approaches that can help address some of the most pressing challenges facing humanity today. And finally, by measuring our impact rigorously through monitoring and evaluation processes, we ensure that our efforts are making a real difference in people's lives.
One of Elrha's flagship programs is the Humanitarian Innovation Fund (HIF), which provides funding for innovative projects aimed at improving humanitarian response around the world. Since its inception in 2011, HIF has supported over 150 projects across more than 50 countries. These projects have ranged from developing new technologies for disaster response to testing new approaches for delivering aid in conflict zones.
Another key program at Elrha is Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC), which funds research into health interventions during humanitarian crises such as disease outbreaks or natural disasters. R2HC has funded over 40 research projects since it was launched in 2013.
In addition to these programs, Elrha also works on a range of other initiatives aimed at improving humanitarian response, including capacity building for local organizations, advocacy and policy work, and knowledge management.
Elrha's work has been recognized by a number of international organizations and donors. In 2018, the organization was awarded the prestigious MacArthur Foundation Award for Creative and Effective Institutions in recognition of its innovative approach to addressing humanitarian challenges.
