I had the Electriq Power battery installed in San Leandro thanks to a subsidy from my utility provider, but the experience has been deeply disappointing. From day one, the system proved unreliable, frequently shutting down and failing to activate during outages when I needed it most. Customer support was a lottery; sometimes I got help, but often I didn’t. Now, with the company’s bankruptcy, the battery is effectively dead. The app is useless, emails go unanswered, and there’s no one left to handle trouble calls. I’m left paying for expensive equipment that serves no purpose just as fire season approaches, with no clear path to a solution if they get bought out. It’s a frustrating and risky situation.

I’ve dealt with some issues on my Electriq Power system in San Leandro, and like many others, I found their technical support lacking. They tend to defer responsibility to the installer, who often doesn’t have a service contract with the company anyway. On top of that, the warranty is pretty strict: Electriq won’t cover labor costs for part replacements, which feels like a major drawback compared to competitors like Tesla, which offers a 10-year parts and labor warranty without requiring a constant internet connection. My PowerPod ESS overheated and was down for over a month. During that downtime, I learned that their support is primarily phone-based, which didn't help much when my installer was initially hesitant to come back for a reset since they wouldn't get paid for the extra labor. After some gentle persuasion from both sides, things seem to be working again, but the experience highlighted some significant gaps in their support model.

After our solar installer suggested the Electriq PowerPod 2, we decided to go all in with the 20kWh battery and an Inverter setup. Even though we’re still waiting for that final PG&E inspection to officially connect, the system has already proven its worth. It came in handy during an unexpected April rainstorm in our San Leandro area, showing just how reliable it is. I’m really impressed by the online dashboard; being able to track our solar performance day and night is a fantastic feature.
