Innovative, surprising, creative and wonderful theatre! Not to be missed!
It is truly a place to become one with nature. It is very relaxing.
They bring the audience onto an unexpected journey. I thought i would feel one way going in and something else transpires when i leave(from my core). It's a conversation between me and what is happening... They're is no doubt that Everyone works hard to make the experience thoughtful and special. Thank you Double Edge Theatre.
I was abused for seven months at this place. Stay away. They are a cult; not a real theatre. They destroyed my life and they'll destroy yours.
I thoroughly enjoyed the performance i attended. The play was a moveable, engaging and informative piece that captivated the audience. Afterwards, the performers interacted with the everyone to give us the opportunity to speak one on one with the actors. Two thumbs up!! I highly recommend visiting the hill towns and booking a show at the double edge. You wont regret it!!
Love this place and all the wonderful, talented people there!!
LOVED MY TIME SPENT AT THE DOUBLE EDGE THEATRE!!!!!!!
Attended Spring Intensive in 2018 and Winter Intensive recently during the pandemic, which was social distanced with all safety precautions and both were incomparable and the trainings involved high energy. The pandemic has not impacted in any way the energy levels of getting trained by Double Edge team. Totally a great experience.
Directors and actors who come here for training end up again and again offering the community world class theater. The troupes actually have traveled to NYC, the US, Europe and beyond! What a treat!

Double Edge Theatre: A Cultural Cooperative and Ensemble Collective
Double Edge Theatre is a cultural cooperative and ensemble collective that has been creating innovative, immersive, and transformative theatrical experiences for over 35 years. Founded in 1982 by Stacy Klein and Carlos Uriona, Double Edge Theatre is located in Ashfield, Massachusetts, USA.
At Double Edge Theatre, the focus is on creating a nurturing environment where artists can explore their creativity and push the boundaries of what is possible in theatre. The company's mission is to fuse the highest caliber of artistic work with a deep love of the natural environment and an unwavering faith in human potential.
The company's ensemble members come from diverse backgrounds and bring a range of skills to their work. They are actors, musicians, dancers, designers, builders, writers - all working together to create something truly unique. The ensemble approach means that everyone has an equal voice in the creative process - there are no stars or hierarchies here.
One of Double Edge Theatre's signature approaches to theatre-making is its use of physical training techniques drawn from various traditions around the world. These techniques help performers develop strength, flexibility, balance, coordination - all essential qualities for creating dynamic performances that engage both body and mind.
Another hallmark of Double Edge Theatre's work is its use of site-specific performance spaces. Rather than performing on traditional stages with proscenium arches separating performers from audiences (and audiences from each other), Double Edge creates immersive environments where performers move among audience members or where audiences move through different spaces as part of the performance.
Over the years, Double Edge has created many acclaimed productions that have toured nationally and internationally. Some highlights include "The Grand Parade (of the Twentieth Century)" (1999), "The Firebird" (2001), "Noir" (2008), "Once a Blue Moon" (2010), "Leonora & Alejandro: La Maga y el Maestro" (2014), "Rhapsody" (2016) among others.
In addition to its performances at home base Ashfield MA., Double Edge also offers workshops for artists interested in learning more about physical training techniques or site-specific performance practices. These workshops attract participants from around the world who want to learn from some of today's most innovative theatre-makers.
Double Edge Theatre also runs an Artist-in-Residence program which provides emerging artists with space to create new work alongside experienced professionals within an inspiring community setting surrounded by nature’s beauty at Ashfield MA..
Overall it can be said that if you're looking for cutting-edge theatre experiences that challenge your perceptions about what theatre can be while celebrating humanity’s potential then look no further than Double-Edge Theater!
