I am a site manager for the security team at the DAV I see a lot of wonderful programs and more they do for veterans they work hard here on the weekends and after hours and coming into work even during this pandemic. I applaud there efforts and work.
Very helpful in with filing a claim to the VA. Only had to go there once. They've taken care of all of it.
Excellent service-oriented group. The building has a good feel too; 60's architecture but warm, inviting and spotless.
Love this place and the great people that work there!!
Worked in the mailroom. Had to take 4 days off due to a fall I had that gave me a concussion. I had a doctor's note stating this and they let me go. How cruel and uncaring can you be. So because I was a temp that makes me less important and they did know about my fall I called Julie the morning it happened and told her so nice try. I was also never told of any concerns. Anymore lies you want to tell.
The DAV at NSO Cold Springs is fantastic. Mark wrote a waiver of compensation/pension debt after I received a debt letter from the VA for $5,382 stating that I had not properly claimed a particular disability. Mark stated that this was actually a clerical error on their part, and I shouldn't have been held liable. With his help, I had my entire debt forgiven and now owe NOTHING!!
Why I do NOT support the DAV anymore. We do not need VSOs that work against the best interest of veterans. This is not the first time the DAV has sided with the VA against veterans.
There are some in Congress who want unfettered Choice, said Garry Augustine, executive director of Disabled American Veterans. Give everybody a card and let them go wherever they want. We re against that and believe it would lead to a dismantling of the VA system as needed resources are drained away and VA [health care] withers on the vine.
We have the National Headquarters of the whole Disabled American Veterans right here in Cold Spring, KY. We do lots of outreach and assistance for all Veterans. Chapter 19 of the DAV meets here on the third Tuesday of the month, currently at 5:00. The DAVA (Auxiliary) also meets at the same time. The DAVA sponsors a local segment of Rolling Thunder with a ceremony, a brief parade past some elementary schools, and food for all riders and everyone involved. This year the parade ended at Queen City Riverboats in Dayton, KY, and Captain Ron treated everyone to a three hour cruise on the Ohio River. We have two fund drives. One is the Forget-Me-Not drive on Memorial Day weekend. The other is at Golden Corral on the days leading up to Veterans' Day.
DAV is a great organization to belong to. We meet monthly on the 3rd Thursday each month at 1800hrs @ Ponderosa steakhouse, Dickson.
We provide many services to veterans and their families. DAV provides veteran services to include transportation to VA appointments, personal assistance, Claims assistance for veterans filing claims. Stop by and see what were all about.
Excellent! The museum is amazing. The gift shop has everything you need.
Amazing staff. Very attentive to your needs. I don't know how they do it but they never get tired helping veterans. If your a veteran you need to join this superior organization! You will never regret your decision unless you choose not to join.

DAV, also known as Disabled American Veterans, is a non-profit organization that has been serving veterans and their families since 1920. The organization was founded by World War I veterans who were disabled and wanted to help other disabled veterans. Today, DAV has over 1 million members across the United States and provides a wide range of services to help veterans lead fulfilling lives.
One of the primary goals of DAV is to ensure that all disabled veterans have access to the benefits they are entitled to. This includes helping them navigate the complex VA system and advocating for their rights on Capitol Hill. DAV also provides free transportation to VA medical facilities for those who need it, as well as assistance with filing claims for disability compensation.
In addition to these services, DAV also offers a variety of programs designed specifically for veterans. For example, they have employment resources that can help vets find jobs in their local communities. They also offer recreational opportunities like fishing trips and hunting expeditions so that vets can connect with others who share similar experiences.
If you're interested in supporting DAV's mission, there are several ways you can get involved. One option is to make a donation directly through their website or by mail. You can choose whether you want your donation to go towards general support or towards a specific program like transportation or employment assistance.
Another way you can support DAV is by volunteering your time at one of their many offices across the country. Volunteers play an essential role in helping disabled vets access the resources they need and providing emotional support during difficult times.
Overall, if you're looking for an organization dedicated to helping our nation's heroes live full lives after service, look no further than DAV! With over 100 years of experience serving our country's bravest men and women, this non-profit continues its mission today with passion and dedication unmatched by any other charity out there!
