Crosstown Arts: Cultivating the Arts Community in Memphis
Crosstown Arts is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to cultivating and supporting the arts community in Memphis. The organization was founded with the goal of providing artists, musicians, and performers with resources, programming, and events that help them showcase their talents and connect with audiences.
At Crosstown Arts, we believe that art has the power to transform communities. We are committed to creating an environment where artists can thrive and where creativity is celebrated. Our mission is to provide a platform for emerging and established artists alike to share their work with others.
One of our primary goals at Crosstown Arts is to create opportunities for artists to showcase their work. We do this through a variety of programming initiatives such as exhibitions, performances, workshops, artist residencies, and more. Our exhibitions feature works by local as well as national artists across various mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, video art etc.
We also offer artist residencies which provide selected individuals or groups with access to studio space along with other resources such as equipment rentals or technical assistance. This program allows artists from different backgrounds and disciplines to collaborate on projects while also providing them with an opportunity for professional development.
In addition to our programming initiatives we also host events throughout the year that bring together members of the arts community in Memphis. These events include concerts featuring local musicians or touring acts from around the country; film screenings showcasing independent films; literary readings featuring local authors; panel discussions on topics related to art etc.
At Crosstown Arts we understand that access plays a crucial role in fostering creativity within communities. That's why we have made it our mission not only provide resources but also make them accessible for everyone regardless of their background or financial status.
We offer free admission for all exhibitions at our gallery space located at 1350 Concourse Ave., Suite 280 (in Crosstown Concourse). Additionally many of our programs are offered free-of-charge or at low cost thanks in part due generous support from donors who believe in our mission.
Our commitment towards accessibility extends beyond just physical spaces but into digital spaces too! We have recently launched an online platform called "Crosstown Digital" which provides virtual tours of current exhibitions along with other digital content like interviews & podcasts featuring local creatives!
In conclusion,Crosstown Arts has become one of Memphis' most important cultural institutions since its founding over ten years ago! With its dedication towards cultivating artistic talent through various programs & initiatives coupled alongside its commitment towards accessibility - it's no wonder why so many people consider us one-of-a-kind!
