Awesome experience, knowledgeable staff. I have never seen so many super computers In one spot. Great history of Seymour Cray founder of Cray super computers.
The birth place of the supercomputer was AWSOME. The inventors own notes and prototype on display
Only open Fri-Sat, but if you want to learn about supercomputers, fire pumps, and other local businesses that influenced the Chippewa Valley, good place to go for friends and family. Tour guide was very informative.
A small museum that pays tribute to local companies that have been involved in technology. The main display is for Cray Supercomputers, which still operates in this small town. While not the Smithsonian, the staff is very friendly and helpful and willing to take you along for a ride through Chippew...
I'm so glad that Cray had the foresight to hang on to these Supercomputers. The passionate staff and volunteers make this a must see museum!
Great place, Hannah gave a excellent tour. Would visit again when in the area
Its been many years for me, but it stores a wealth of local knowledge and history. Great place to stop in and learn.
Lots of big old Cray computers and smaller bits and pieces of their history. The building is an older office building so some of the computers were stuck in corners so you couldn't walk all the way around them. This is a great place for a nerd (and their family) to stop for an hour or so.
Neat displays and tour of the Chippewa valley's history in industry
This place is off the beaten track, and we stumbled across it by accident. We were given the option of a self guided tour or a tour with the gal on duty. We chose the guided tour, and I can honestly say I have never had a tour as enjoyable as this one was. Our guide not only knew the details, but sh...
Very interesting place to visit! Being a computer geek the Cray displays blew me away. The gal minding the museum was a real doll, very attractive a great conversationalist. If I lived in the area I would have asked her out!
Very interesting. For those who like computers history, it is a real time capsule!!! The guide actually worked with those computers, and he is so knowledgeable which makes the visit even better.
Fascinating collections. Came here for the Cray exhibit, and it is excellent, though I had to teach the guides about the historical significance of many of them.
Hidden gem in what I though was an insignificant area. How wrong I could have been. This has some incredible displays including a toy soldier displays to some of the first super computers. It does not seem to have much in funding but yet this is such and incredible museum and testament to the a...
My husband and I stopped in an took the tour today, and we were blown away. The tour guide was so knowledgeable, and engaging. She walked with us and gave us ample time to read about all the displays and answered all of our questions. The conversation flowed so easily, it felt like you were touring ...
Really cool little place! Much more to this place than it seems at first glance.
Love working here. The collections are first rate. The work that is done in Chippewa impresses me, and it is so cool to see a community celebrate its industrial history. 5 stars coming when programs and updates are completed!
Very nice museum with a number of iconic mainframe computers, many by Cray Research. In addition, rooms devoted to local companies that produce corrugated paper packaging and displays, firefighting trucks, Linenkugel beer and others. The docent was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Well worth the stop...
