Computer history museum

Great resources for teens willing to explore computers, has very cool artifacts and learning opportunities within the museum.

This place is absolutely amazing. FREE PARKING in case you wonder.

Spawned from the defunct Computer Museum of Boston, this small venue packs quite a bit of artifacts into its available space. Only one floor is used for exhibits, upper floor might be a function hall.

This is a place for kids to seniors, who would like to witness the evolution of computing from encoded strings (actual organic strings) to abacus, to punch cards, to tape, disk, display, etc. Learn about mechanical, electro-mechanical, vacuum tube, transistor and integrated circuit computing. Analog, digital, 3D and 4D worlds are right in front of you!

Also, plenty of pop culture home computing machines and home video game consoles. Interactive exhibits do change periodically, and I'm told there is 30% on display out of the endowment!

Take the free 1hr guided tour if the museum isn't crowded! I also witnessed an IBM Mainframe demo. The museum volunteers are are full of wisdom, and are very helpful.

If you are a 'TECH' person, you must go here. Worth to visit.

I will suggest to take a guided tour. It is available free of cost. Arranged twice in a day. Guides are very much informative. Sometimes we can not see, what they show us.

Don't go on SIZE or space available. Much more to read, much more to learn, much more to know on every wall, every piece, every corner of museum.

Please go early, so that you can take advantage of your money. But you will always have that hunger to visit again and again. Can not complete in one visit. We were there till security person came to us to say please leave.

If your kids are studying, it would be great for them as well.

You really need at least 3 hours to visually appreciate this place, and there's lots of interesting history to read about. Nice exhibits, not over crowded or cluttered, goes through a good span of the history of computers, and has some nice videos with important historical figures in them to watch. Not expensive to get in, well worth the price, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I don't think young kids will appreciate something like this, but if you're into computers and over 30 or want to know where your phone evolved from, you'll want to see this place. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely be coming back and spending more time here.

Awesome museum a must for any technophile. It was easy to find and has a fair amount of parking. The building is a large 2 story structure but all the exhibits are on the first floor. We got a discount buying tickets online so I would suggest going online to see if you can get do the same thing. You check in at the front counter where they give you a collar tab to wear and a map. They offer tours at certain times of the day. We took the one at noon. It was fascinating. The displays are very well done and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. Once we finished the tour we wandered the rest of the museum. There is a group of interactive displays that teach programming and other rooms that we didn t even get to. I plan to visit here again. Great museum.

You really need a full day for this place, there is so much to learn.

I just think that the information could be delivered in a more meaningful way though. There was way too much block text explaining exhibits and no tldr paragraphs if you are short on time.

The museum is amazing and a must see for everyone who loves technology and wants to learn more about the history present and future of computers and their power. This is quite large place and with so many interactive areas so plan few hours of fun time there. Museum is great for kids and adults. My family spent the whole day there and the food is amazing too. We will definitely be back.

Such an amazing museum. Extremely thorough and detailed about computer revolution. Has tons of artifacts, and interaction. All comes at no cost (for an BoA users) otherwise the price is still really reasonable. Highly recommended!

Wonderful museum with a LOT of information! Give yourself plenty of time, and enjoy the stories of the guys giving the punch card demo. So many neat artifacts and memories throughout the whole place!

Awesome place! Always wanted to visit this museum since I moved to Bay Area. Finally got the chance. It didn t only live up to the expectations but surpassed my expectations. They just have a vast number of exhibits. You can easily spend 3-4 hours just browsing through all the exhibits and traveling through time from 1930s computes to today. Very informative. Good place to take kids.
