This cafe has had many makeovers but it seems to have found its style and settled into the Warrandyte dining culture perfectly. Located nicely in the centre of town only 100 metres from The Yarra River, Cocoa Moon continually reinvents the menu to keep it interesting. I ve found the breakfast (scrambled eggs with all the side dishes) to be generous in portion size and big in taste.
The new decor gives it an inner city funkiness about it with genuine warmth and style.
The menu is good with plenty of choices. Staff are great and the owners hands on.
You can eat indoors or out. Wheelchair accessible. Dog friendly. Kid friendly. Pram and strollers can fit inside but would be a little tight. Parking across the road or up the side streets is pretty good.

The interior offers cozy, excellent moderm dining ambience. Tasty food were amazingly served by friendly staff. This cafe is a few steps away from Info Centre that is manned on Sundays, and right next to the river reserve. Great idea to package the dining with riverside walk.

I waited 20 minutes for a chicken salad and have around 20 minutes until my next appointment. They served my chicken salad 20 minutes later, with waitresses who really lacked enthusiasm and customer service skills. As I was about the dig into my salad, I found a long black hair wrapped in the chicken. I asked the waitress to prepare a new salad, who apologised and said it would be a 5 minute wait. 10 minutes later, I had to leave so the owner offered to "discount" the hairy salad. So I paid for a hairy salad and they placed the "freshly made" salad into a container for me. The demeanour of the owner and staff just did not care and thought it was mildly amusing. Well low and behold, I leave and open the "fresh" salad to have later on and what do I find, an insect amongst the chicken! Disgusting!

6th March 2019 - the fact that you imply you provided a refund is deplorable. It was advised a "discount" would be provided. I have never had the luxury of eating a salad with insects and then having to pay a discount. Wow, what a luxury and what a despicable, stingy manager who fabricates lies. I am more than happy to provide my receipt to document this ! Get your head out of your bank account and into providing hygienic, edible meals to your dedicated customers!

Just had breakfast at this cafe. The poached eggs when taken out of the pot and had been drained directly onto the toast which meant all you could taste was vinegar.

I left 80% of the meal and when I payed my bill advised the waitress of my disappointment.
Her response was " mostly the breakfast is ok here, it cause we are busy today !!".

This is one customer that wont be back !!!.

If a cafe can t get a coffee right then I don t know what business they are running, I didn t wish to disappoint the barista and ruin his weekend, but if the young waiter noticed I hadn t drunk my mug of coffee you would ask, is your coffee okay? No anyway we won t return here food was precooked and unpleasant, cold, deep fried soggy fritter

Came in with my family & our meals over all were shocking quality/portions & over priced. Service was friendly & polite, smoothies are delicious but steak brioche and pepper bun was so disappointing with only 5 tiny slivers of steak and over peppered capsicums with barely any cheese. The homemade hash browns are a hard pass. Not a good start to a countryside walk on a lightly sunny day.

Great place to grab a takeaway coffee and muffin.. or if time permits, order in, and if available, choos a table by one of the windows. The one I sat at while waiting for my order had cosy seats and was located next to the front fridge.

Despite it being a Sunday morning and quite busy, my order for a coffee and B&E muffin was ready in less than 10 mins.. and was the best one I've had in a while

We should have figured out how bad it was when the booking we had called for 45mins prior was forgotten.
Food was slow, the crumbed mushrooms needed a sauce. There was 3 pieces of chorizo on my meal when I asked for extra and was charged extra for them. The only saving a 0 rating was good coffee. My partner had poached eggs that were more like hard boiled on the Latin eggs what was also 4 small pieces chorizo and a slice of sourdough and was $20. Great location but your kitchen is letting you down

We are pretty regular customers here, the coffee has always been our favourite along with eggs Benedict. The staff lovely with excellent customer service & we always left a big tip each time... except for today, so many new staff & the one whom we recognized looked just miserable. The coffee was the worst we have had & the food wasn't great either, with both of us having upset tummy for the rest of the day. The cutlery filthy, we had to ask for clean forks. Has this place been sold to new people? It's such a shame but we wont be back.

Great coffee great service great location. Great little cafe that offers everything it should. I cant believe people complain about the price. You get table service for clean food, perfect coffee. Everything is quality at Cocoa Moon cafe. For anyone who has complained about price obviously has no idea about hospitality and dining. Reviews are crucial to the success of most businesses and everyone is calling themselves a critique. Cocoa moon cafe is worth every penny!!

Cocoa moon has definitely upped their game since the last time I was here. Incredibly fast service, super friendly staff and amazing fresh and tasty food. The coffee has improved ten fold and I will be coming here regularly from now on. So happy to see such an improvement. Highly recommend

The food here is great but the service is really below acceptable. On one occasion we waited an hour for food that never came, even after chatting with the waitress. We walked out. Another occasion I had to make my order at the counter because no waiter came, and then I had to go collect our drinks which were left sitting on the counter for 10 minutes instead of being delivered to us.

Where to begin....

Went here for lunch with my friend, sat down outside, waiter came over and gave us menus, she was very kind.
Waited 10 minutes to get water & cups - which had dirt and dust in them. We ordered a delux tostie ($19) and a vegan stack ($22). Drinks were a chocolate milkshake ($9)and a power boostie smoothie($9.90). We then waited 20 minutes just for drinks to come out. The chocolate milkshake was fine only thing we could say was maybe to milky not enough chocolate. The power boostie was horrible! Can t describe the taste but the drink was at room temperature which was discusting from the beginning- I had to wait 5 minutes for a waiter to notice me so I could ask for some ice in it. Even then was still not a great taste. Then waited an extra 10 minutes after to actually get the food.

What can I even say about the food

First the delux tostie was a clump of egg between two pieces of toast. And inside was a long black hair...
Only good thing was the hash browns(they were actually pretty amazing)

And what I received for $22 was a piece of bread with with enough spinach to kill Popeye!

Oh, and the wasps were bad too- not saying this if there fault but just added more comedy to what was disappointing & eventful afternoon...
