Nice facilities. One downside is there are just a few options for food in the convention center and around the block.
"Chicago, get ready to meet the most uncaring and rudest people"
or its slogan should be "spent your money and then (chica) GO"
My son (Samson, 20yrs old) saved up for a year to buy a good bicycle and go the Ragbrai IA bicycle event. From there he went to Chicago. He was so exited to see a "big" city for his first time. With very little money and good budgeting he was able to manage it. But he got his bicycle stolen when visiting the Willis tower, it was locked up with a heavy duty chain. Here is the best, when calling the police they told him to go home and wait for a call. As a tourist you are screwed, they also said oh well its just a bike. Willis tower employees told him they are not concerned, lots of bikes get stolen, live with it. Willis tower security also told him they are far more concerned getting people up to see out. As a tourist you are screwed again.
So I (Rose Singer, mom) tried calling the non-emergency police in Chicago. I should have recorded the call, all the news agencies would love to hear this. I was treated so rudely and told oh well its just a bike, they got bigger issues to care for. Tried calling the Willis tower, knowing my son was waiting for help there, no answers. Told my son to ask for a good phone number to get hold of the security people at Willis tower. He was told they do not give out numbers. screwed again.
First day in Chicago as a tourist and what a day. It wouldn't be so bad if it wouldn't be a double whammy. I had a severe accident recently, which now left me a vegetable. My son wanted to cancel his trip, but I insisted on making his dream come true. I feel extremely guilty because my children will have to care for me. find info on facebook- Rose Singer. I feel terrible for my child to experience such bad behavior. Getting a bike stolen is bad enough, what is concerning the Police's behavior and the Willis tower employees. A single kind word like "oh my , I'm sorry" would have changed all of it.
This should make the news. Rose Singer,TN
Good amenities, lots of walking but overall a good conference place.
Good info, excellent tourist information center and a remarkable place.
My wife and I visited family in Chicago in September 2016. While there we drove to Wisconsin and went through numerous toll booths paying cash at each one in our rental car. On arriving home the rental car company (Alamo) sent a bill from the Highway Administration Toll stating we had driven through four toll booths. We then had to pay more as the exit toll booths have no receipt mechanism to prove we had already paid (Even though the gate will not rise unless you pay). Bottom line, there are many nicer place to visit than Chicago and their corrupt political system
Best food around is in Chicago.
If you are from out of town turn on radio station WBBM 780 a.m. and listen to the weather traffic it could make for happier plans
