Character.org: Empowering People to Practice and Model Core Values

Character.org is a global network that aims to empower individuals of all ages to practice and model core values that shape our hearts, minds, and choices. The organization believes that character education is essential in building a better world, where people are guided by strong moral principles and ethical standards.

Founded in 1993 as the Character Education Partnership (CEP), Character.org has been at the forefront of promoting character education in schools, communities, workplaces, and beyond. The organization provides resources, training programs, assessments, research-based practices, and recognition for schools and organizations committed to fostering positive character development.

The mission of Character.org is to help individuals become responsible citizens who contribute positively to society. The organization believes that character education should be integrated into every aspect of life โ€“ from personal relationships to professional endeavors. By instilling core values such as respect, responsibility, honesty, fairness, compassion among others โ€“ individuals can lead fulfilling lives while making a positive impact on others.

One of the key initiatives of Character.org is its Schools of Character program. This program recognizes schools that demonstrate excellence in implementing effective character education strategies. Schools undergo a rigorous evaluation process based on eleven principles of effective character education developed by the organization's experts.

The Schools of Character program has recognized over 500 schools across the United States since its inception in 1998. These schools have demonstrated significant improvements in academic performance as well as social-emotional learning outcomes for students.

In addition to its Schools of Character program for K-12 institutions; Character.org also offers resources for higher education institutions through its Higher Education Initiative (HEI). HEI provides guidance on how colleges can integrate character development into their curriculum and campus culture effectively.

Character.org also offers resources for workplaces through its Workplace Initiative (WI). WI helps organizations develop ethical leadership skills among employees while fostering an inclusive work environment built on trust and respect.

Another initiative offered by Character.org is their Community Initiative (CI). CI helps communities build stronger bonds between residents by promoting shared values such as kindness or generosity through community-wide events or campaigns.

Overall; whether you are an educator looking for ways to promote positive behavior among your students or an employer seeking ways to foster ethical leadership skills among your employees; there are many valuable resources available from this worldwide network dedicated solely towards empowering people with core values necessary for success both personally & professionally!
