Centre Safe: Empowering Survivors and Eliminating Violence

Centre Safe is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to empowering survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The organization was founded in 1977 as the Centre County Women's Resource Center, and has since grown to become one of the most respected and effective organizations of its kind in Pennsylvania.

At Centre Safe, our mission is simple: we want to eliminate violence in all its forms. We believe that everyone has the right to live free from fear and abuse, and we work tirelessly to provide support, education, and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

Our services are designed to meet the unique needs of each survivor who comes through our doors. We offer crisis intervention services 24 hours a day, seven days a week through our hotline. In addition to crisis intervention services over the phone or in person at our office located at 140 W Nittany Ave., State College PA 16801 , we also offer counseling services for individuals who have experienced trauma related to domestic violence or sexual assault. Our licensed therapists use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy which can help clients process their experiences so they can move forward with their lives.

We also provide legal advocacy services for survivors who need assistance navigating the complex legal system after experiencing abuse. Our advocates can accompany clients during court hearings related to PFA orders or criminal cases against abusers; they can also help clients understand their rights under state law regarding issues like custody disputes or divorce proceedings.
