My wife loves it here. It's a huge playground for creative folks who work with fabric and linen. I don't have a reference point for how affordable(or not affordable) these types of fabric should be, but most of the regular priced materials were around 40-60 dollars per yard. It sounded quite expensive to me, but I wasn't surprised given the prime location next to Market Street. The employees here were very nice.

I traveled to San Francisco last year and bought some gorgeous silk chiffon here. It is so delicate and dreamy! I was again looking for a similar silk, this time for a client, and unable to travel to the city to shop in person due to covid restrictions. I spoke with Douglas on the phone and he helped me find exactly the fabric I was hoping for! He is sending me a sample and was so helpful and nice the entire time. Both experiences with Britex have been fantastic. The salespeople are exceptional, so is the fabric. THANK YOU!

Britex moved from Geary, around the corner to Post, in December. I've been there numerous times since the move and I like the new space very much! They've moved from a deep and narrow 4-floor space, to a larger, rectangular, 2-floor space. The first floor has high ceilings, lots of natural and electric lighting. I found many new fabrics that were buried in the old space. The first floor carries wools, silks, rayon linings, evening wear fabrics.

A very dramatic staircase, and an elevator (near the cashier), leads to the second floor, which carries notions, patterns (they no longer carry Vogue, but they've added several independent lines), buttons, zippers, ribbons, threads, wedding tiaras, home dec, cotton fabrics, knits (except wool knits, which are on the first floor). The second floor is quite "cozy", especially compared to the first floor, but still has good lighting.

I like the new open layout and the wealth of lighting.

This was my first time in a fabric shop (other than that I had shopped online) and this place is straight out of an aesthetic fashion movie! Two stories of neatly arranged fabrics and a very helpful staff, I spoke to three people and they were all very friendly. They have lots of zippers in different sizes and tons of trims and whatnot. My favorite discovery was that their fabrics aren t all in the 40-60$ range. I bought an organza, satin, and some 4-way stretch fabric and each of them was under 10$ a yard. Obviously though this is not the case for all of them, they have gorgeous cotton prints (I was looking at florals) which were around 40$ a yard so price wise I would review that it depends. Hope this is helpful! Also they re in a very nice part of SF just in case you re from somewhere else and the city spooks you :)

Amazing fabric store. Be prepared for some sticker shock. They have everything you need for a high end sewing project. This isn't Beverley fabric. Amazing button collection. The new location is only two stories, but supposedly has all the inventory of the older location. Staff is top notch.

Better than Amazon!

Seriously, this is my favorite neighborhood store, they seem to have everything one could need.

Especially for costumes and holiday decorations :)
