I've been to Brisbane last month, with some friends.
We were looking for a cheap accomodation, with some facilities and we found this cool place. We wanted visited the city but the weather wasn't always good, so we spent a lot of time in the pool and the spa...wow!!
We loved the great atmosphere, all the staff friendly and very helpful, everyday clean rooms (not all my friends were tidy...).
Everything was perfect and the city was easily to reach thanks to the free buses near the entrance.
Can't wait to come back soon!! Thank you

Great rooms for a very reasonable price. The facilities are very well equipped, you can get pretty much everything you need right at the resort. With a kitchen, tv room, basketball court, pool and hot tub, ping pong and foosball table as well as a bar that serves food at a good price, it is one of the best hostels out there. The staff are very friendly and keep the place squeeky clean.

The only downside, in my opinion, is the size of the kitchen. It is quite small for the amount of guests and is generally always crowded.

Made bookings add started online. Phoned to check the rooms were as said online. When we arrived the rooms were not that way at all. Married couples had bunk beds instead of the doubles promised. Kitchen was left a messy/unhygenic by others staying there. Not the establishments fault though.

Great location, staff are friendly and very helpful.. air conditioning is limited so make sure you spend lots of time in the pool and get a bottom bunk bed as the top bunk is crazy hot and you wont get any sleep! Wifi is good on the ground floor. Walking distance from basically everything so great location. Cheap food from the bar and entertainment each night like pool competition etc. Overall would recommend, and will stay again. Thanks team.

Stayed two nights in March 2013 with some family and friends when in town for the football (soccer).

Excellent hostel - bed was comfortable, shower was good, on site bar was excellent, staff were friendly and up for a chat, close to some good eateries. Being located in West End, it's a bit of a walk to the CBD, but not too far. Can't find a single fault with this hostel - will definitely stay there again and highly recommend it!

Friendly staff, breakfast, a pool, WiFi and a balcony in all of the rooms. Drinks were reasonably priced and food was cheap as chips! Only a 15 minute walk from the public pool! Overall I liked my stay, the only drawback was the poor level of cleanliness in the kitchen. One shelf appeared to be developing its own ecosystem

It is a place with a bar, food and pleasant atmosphere, however it has important flaws such as: cleaning, having to ask at the reception for kitchen materials (dishes, services, pots, cups, etc) every time you want to occupy them, a breakfast "toast" where the bread is finished and it is not replaced, and the kitchen is cleaned between 2 and 3 o'clock in the afternoon, so it is closed and you can not cook it. You did not go before that time.

Pretty good

Rooms were good, own fridge, own bathroom for 6 people, balcony. They serve a basic breakfast for free and they have a Restaurant and bar, a pool and a car park

BBR is a very good hostel with friendly staff and a lot to do. If you're looking doe a quiet hostel, this isn't the place to go, but if you're up for good fun this is the place to be!

The hostel is clean, has big rooms, free wifi at the reception area and a lot of activities to have a good time. The only downside for me was that the mattress was really thin, but you'll still sleep well.

**A CAUTIONARY TALE - BRISBANE BACKPACKERS RESORT HOSTEL**

Just a word of warning for anyone who is thinking about choosing this hostel for long-term stay in West End, Brisbane. I'd been living here for nearly 8 weeks, initially in a 6-bed then a 4-bed for the last 3 weeks. Last Wednesday I left for work at 8am as normal, stayed at a friend's that night and returned to the hostel the following day after work around half 5. When I went to my room the key card wouldn't work which isn't unusual - but when I went down to the desk to get it reset I was horrified to discover that all of my personal things had actually been removed from this room and put elsewhere, as apparently the room was needed for a group booking. Now as you can imagine living here for almost 2 months none of my things were packed away. I had everything in the cupboard, items in the shower, clothes on my bed - and most importantly all of my diabetes medication in the room fridge. I couldn't believe that I had been away for the room for one night and this happened with absolutely no warning. When I asked why nobody had contacted me - the manager claimed not to have my details - which isn't true as I've messaged them directly on Facebook before. The hostel knew I was working full time, so obviously I'm not around during the day - when they packed up all my things into black bin bags and left it in another dorm. One of my items which had been thrown into the bin bag were my glasses - which I'd left in the cupboard next to my glasses case. Unfortunately nobody had the common sense or decency to put the glasses in their case before chucking them in the bag - and now they are bent out of shape. My insulin - which I need to keep me alive - had been moved into a different fridge. How long it was out of the fridge for I have no idea. The worst part about this is the managers attitude towards me in what was obviously a visibly distressing situation. Yes I'm a backpacker - but I'm still a human being who deserves to be treated with respect. There was absolutely no genuine empathy from him - he didn't want to try and understand why I was so upset and thought saying sorry a couple of times and refunding my stay for the week was enough - probably because it was half 5 and he actually told me he wanted to go home. So just know if you're staying here currently or thinking about booking in here long-term, that at any moment, and without warning, a complete stranger could be packing up all your things into bin bags and moving you into a different dorm - and don't expect them to be sorry about it.

Super nice staff, nice hostel and a great outdoor area, pool and jacuzzi are a dream. The rooms are large and well equipped. Unfortunately, we had quite an ant plague and it could have been cleaner.
The hostel is totally familiar and you get to know people very fast.
The kitchen is absolutely great, and the hostel is reasonably priced.
Something cleaner would be nice, but still an absolute recommendation!

I booked here for a few nights after finishing a trip and ended up staying nearly 6 months. The staff are great and really helpful, the pool and Jacuzzi was an added bonus as was the tv room! The bar serves cheap drinks and a great way to meet people, I met some amazing people here including some of my best friends. Would recommend this place to everyone. X

We stayed for 7 nights and ended up paying way more than we expected. They do have free WiFi, but it is terribly slow but don't worry you can pay extra for "high speed wifi" that buffers frequently. Oh did I mention when you pay for WiFi you are paying per device-therefore if you have a phone and a lap top that it double the price. RIDICULOUS. They have computers you can use but oh YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR THOSE TOO. There is no heat in any of the rooms so it becomes freezing cold every time the sun is down (morning and evening).

Also, the front desk is not the most helpful. Many times we asked about things going on and we got back an attitude as if we were supposed to already know.
The positives are we got our room and stored luggage. There is also a shuttle drop off that helps.

Overall, Brisbane Backpackers Resort is literally what you pay for. Not the best experience.

Cheap rates. Heart of west end 10min walk to Southbank or the shops on boundary street. Rooms cleaned daily. Food/drink prices were slightly higher then expected. Matress was very uncomfortable and the least desirable part of entire stay. $8 for wifi and no AC in dorm until later in the year. Friendly staff.

The backpacker was not our cup of tea too.
The price for our first week was attractive but not the same for next week so we left.

We were in 8 beds dorm : the toilet had a problem with the leak. We had to wait almost one week to have a toilet which is working. Maybe there is only one plumber in Brisbane ? The room was cleaned every day, not the bathroom.

The kitchen was always dirty, and you have to leave your key to the reception to cook !
The prices of the bar are EXPENSIVE ! As in a bar, not a backpacker. We are not businessmen with 10000$ to spend every week. Internet is expensive as well. You have the free internet to the state library, 20min to walk !

There are a pool, table tennis, which are good, the shuttle for the city is nice too. The staff is kind, except on once and we don't know why. There are activities every night : quizz, pool...

It was the first backpackers I visited in Australia. It is in the westend area very close to bars, restaurants and pubs. It is not very clean but if you go backpacking do not expect to find much cleaning ... they have lockers to leave your valuables and the rooms are for 12 people. The pool is very good and they serve food inside. It is also the cheapest I found.

The hostel is fine. Not an ideal location for commuting to the city but we only stayed for 2 nights. My room had a strange smell, there was mold on the windows and very squeaky bunks. The sheets were fine but the bathroom was dirty and no one cleaned whilst I was there (every other hostel I've been to had the bathroom and floor cleaned daily). Very small for 8 people not enough room for everyone. The bathroom just seemed to be filled with wall filler residue and anytime I set something down it was covered in white because of fixing things it was just filled in. Check in was nit exactly pleasant the woman checking me in was quite blunt and didnt explain where the kitchen and laundry were. There is also no lift and you could have to climb 2 flights of stairs so pack light.

It was fine for a cheap nights stay but I wouldnt stay long.

Located right in the heart of west end. This resort is always teaming with different people to interact with which I think is ideal for backpackers. Then again. If you are looking for privacy, that is hard to find in a room that you share with 7 other's. Pricing is very decent for what it provides. The resort comes with a spa, pool and tennis court. Overall I think it's a very viable option for many people and I would definitely recommend it !
