Hadn't been here in a long time, and I am thrilled to say this place is still superb. Rarely rate 5 stars, and this place definitely earns it. Food was perfect, and service was impeccable. That is a rare feat. Steak and lobster cooked to perfection. A very memorable experience. Bravo!
I had been looking forward to this visit because I love steak, I've visited multiple restaurants around the city to try what they had to offer. Some were better than others and unfortunately Barclay hit the not so good side of my list. Now I would like to point out that the service was phenomenal and the appetizers were amazing as well but lets be serious... This isn't the "appetizer restaurant" this is an establishment known for it's steaks. So this rating is centered around the steaks (I simple gave an extra star based on the service and appetizers)
I've tasted Wagyu before so I was incredibly curious about their american version. It sounded off but it was worth seeing. I regret it immensely, it was nowhere near the level of wagyu and I was disappointed in the way it was served.For starters it wasn't cooked the way I asked (medium rare is how I wanted it) and it came out cold. So cold I was curious if they gave me a steak that had been sitting for 45 minutes. I decided to taste it for good measure and found myself even more disappointed Which was upsetting since the amazing appetizers spoke of brilliant things to come, instead it was brilliantly disappointing. I informed the waiter of how I felt and asked him to tell the manager, not sure if he did but I did voice my complaints. I disliked it I didn't even take it home (even though I only ate one bite). I'm debating if I even want to come back but if I do I'm staying as far away from the American Wagyu as possible.

The experience was amazing. I tried new foods. Our waiter was amazing he taught us how to eat caviare. Very very good.
We ate outside in the shed row style dinning area where you have your own 3 sided cubicle to enjoy your meal in. Wonderful chandelier accent light for a unique outdoor dining experience. Our waiter was awesome, very attentive and struck up good conversation at appropriate times. I am glad we didn't dine inside it is very dark and not my cup of tea. We each ordered apps consisting of the tuna and the cracked both of which were very good and well presented. We order the filet mignon and NY strip steaks. Both were cooked to perfection. The sear was spot on and the flavor was out of this world. We each had some nice craft beers to pair well with our meal. We added green beans and tater tots, the waiter convinced us the tots were worth every penny and he was correct! We shared the strawberry cheesecake which was the perfect ending to a great meal. I would highly recommend this place if you are interested in an upscale steak dinner. Our meal came to 250$ and is something we only do once in a great while. I only wish we had the coin to spring for the Japanese Waygu Beef, someday!
Excellent customer service, I was greeted with a smile, sat at my table with a smile, very intimate vibe there my waiter was right on time, he explained the menu and recommended a very good drink, cough cough and I ended up with 4. The food was sooooo good and perfectly seasoned! Yes they re very pricey here but it s worth it.
After seeing the menu and being a steak house lover I reserved a table for my 4 year anniversary. Staff was average expected a little more at a $150 a person steak house down town but a non issue. Ordered the bone in NY strip medium rare and opted to ad the Oscar. Appetizers were good salad great but as soon as I got my steak I lost my appetite after a few bites I tried to look and see the temperature of the steak and from what I could see in the dim light of the outdoor seating was it was well done but I was full and didn't want to mention it. When I got home I saw the steak was less then rare by any stretch of the imagination. Which is hard to do with how blackened the outside was. Pic attached hopefully. I cooked it at home for another ten minutes and was still on the rare side but now edible. Was my first time at Barclay prime...
Very comfortable spot to dine. Ball cap, jeans, polo, all acceptable. Matthew was my host and did a fantastic job. Service from host to table was a little slow but I did have the very first reservation of the day. Once seated, Matthew took over and the dinner was one of the best I ve ever experienced. He offered fantastic suggestions. The Barman came to offer his advice as well. What a great experience!!! I will certainly be back and with friends. Thank you for sharing just what your restaurant offers to the patrons!
Even the gristle is delicious!! Don't forget to treat yourself to a Manhattan, the special infused vermouth makes it!
Fabulously expensive but an experience that doesn't disappoint. Their steaks are seasoned perfectly and cooked exactly as they should be. Sides are pricey but hearty portions.
The $130 cheesesteak is a splurge but worth trying at least once. We split it as an appetizer and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Barclay Prime meat selection was a NO for me...the prime rib was over charred! In all fairness my family enjoyed their meal (lobster,porterhouse,sea bass, and the crabcake)....I have eaten there before n it was delicious so go and try them out! The sides n the deserts were okay as well.
