ArtsinStark: Your Center for Arts and Culture in Stark County
ArtsinStark is a non-profit organization that aims to promote the arts and culture in Stark County, Ohio. The organization was founded in 1968 as the Stark County Arts Council, but it was renamed ArtsinStark in 2004 to reflect its broader mission of using the arts to create positive change in the community.
At ArtsinStark, we believe that art is not just a form of entertainment or decoration; it is an essential part of our lives that can inspire creativity, foster empathy, and bring people together. That's why we work tirelessly to support local artists and cultural organizations, provide educational opportunities for children and adults alike, and create events and programs that showcase the diversity of our community.
One of our main goals at ArtsinStark is to use the arts as a tool for economic development. We believe that investing in the arts can help attract new businesses, tourists, and residents to Stark County by creating a vibrant cultural scene. To achieve this goal, we offer grants and other forms of financial support to artists and cultural organizations who are working on projects that have economic potential.
Another important aspect of our work at ArtsinStark is education. We believe that exposure to the arts can help children develop critical thinking skills, improve academic performance, boost self-esteem, and enhance their overall quality of life. That's why we offer a variety of educational programs for students from kindergarten through college age.
For example:
- Our SmArts program provides hands-on art experiences for elementary school students during their regular school day.
- Our Artful Living program offers after-school classes in visual art for middle school students.
- Our Teen Apprenticeship program gives high school students an opportunity to work with professional artists on real-world projects.
- Our College Internship program provides college students with valuable experience working with local cultural organizations.
In addition to these programs specifically designed for young people, we also offer workshops and classes for adults who want to learn new skills or explore their creative side.
Finally, at ArtsinStark we are committed to building healthier communities through the arts. We believe that art has therapeutic value - it can reduce stress levels; improve mental health; promote physical activity; encourage social interaction; increase civic engagement; reduce crime rates - all while fostering creativity! That's why we partner with healthcare providers like Aultman Hospital & Mercy Medical Center as well as social service agencies like Domestic Violence Project Inc., Community Services Of Stark County Inc., etc., so they may integrate creative activities into their services!
We also organize events throughout the year such as First Fridays (a monthly celebration featuring live music performances), Canton Blues Fest (a two-day blues festival), Downtown Canton Flea (an outdoor market featuring handmade goods), among others!
In conclusion,
At ArtsinStark you will find an organization dedicated not only promoting but also utilizing art & culture towards creating smarter kids via education initiatives such as SmArts & Artful Living Programs while simultaneously generating jobs via economic development initiatives such as grants & funding opportunities! Additionally partnering up with healthcare providers & social service agencies allows us further integration into society by providing therapeutic value through creative activities! Lastly organizing events throughout year ensures thereβs always something happening within your community!
