Attended an event at Arta Gallery in Toronto and wanted to share some details for couples considering this venue. The on-peak reception fee for 2020 was $3,735, with half due at booking (non-refundable) and the remainder due 90 days prior. If you need to cancel, you can apply 70% of that fee toward art purchases at the gallery. Additional costs include a $260 supervision fee and a $240 security fee, plus 13% tax, bringing the total for 10 hours to around $4,700. Any caterer is allowed, but since there’s no kitchen, expect extra charges for equipment bring-in. Be mindful of noise levels; while the contract specifies quiet by 10 PM, coordinators mentioned dance-level music is still permitted, though loud bass should be minimized due to residential units above. An on-site AV system is included in the rental. The space is beautiful, featuring brick walls and curated art that serves as a surprise unless you do a prior walkthrough. You can remove a few pieces for free or pay a fee to move/swap more. Communication has been clear and easy. Note that due to COVID-19, we had to re-book for 2021, and prices increased by 15% annually, adding roughly $500 to our new booking.

Given how smoothly everything went, I would absolutely consider hosting another event at this gallery in the future.

While the Arta Gallery in the Distillery District offers a stunning rustic and artistic backdrop for a wedding, the management experience left much to be desired. We loved the venue's aesthetic and the price point for the location, but there were significant communication gaps. Our main contact left months before our event without us being notified, and the handoff to the new team was messy; they weren't briefed on our months of planning, leading to confusion when the rental crew arrived and didn't know where to place the furniture. The biggest issue arose from inconsistent information. We were explicitly told that nude art would not be displayed in the public galleries, which was important for our family-friendly guest list. Yet, on the wedding day, we were shocked to find nude pieces all over the walls. The venue initially wanted to charge us hundreds of dollars to remove them before our guests arrived. Fortunately, our planner negotiated it down to free of charge. If you are considering Arta Gallery, be aware that despite the beautiful space and attractive contract terms, their internal communication and attention to client details can be poor.

We chose Arta Gallery in Toronto for our recent wedding and it was a fantastic experience. The space is incredibly beautiful, and our guests constantly complimented its aesthetic charm and cozy atmosphere. We hosted 97 attendees, and the venue felt intimate and relaxing. If you are planning an event here, keep in mind there is a seating limit around 100-120 people, so it is best suited for smaller gatherings under 90 guests to ensure everyone is comfortable. Traffic in the area can be tough, so I recommend arriving early or parking a bit further away and walking over; Ubers work great too. The team was wonderful, particularly Silvie, who made sure everyone felt at home. I also want to thank the staff member who helped me with my dress on the day—she was so helpful! The photos we took surrounded by the art will be treasured forever. Highly recommend this unique Toronto venue for an intimate celebration.
