Archbishop ryan high school

After just graduating from this school a couple months ago, I am so relieved to leave this hellhole. Half of the teachers I had should have not been teaching. They expect way too much of their students and rarely do anything to help. My math teachers were a joke and being already bad at math, it did not help one bit. The food is stupidly overpriced; a wrap and water is 6 dollars. You are not permitted to drink even water in classrooms and trust me, you'll really want to when summer rolls around and there's only a small number of classes with air conditioning. It almost feels like punishment. The higher ups do not take your problems seriously and everything is put on the students; if something happens with a teacher, it is always the student's fault. I have never felt welcome in this school and I barely have any memories I can remember fondly. Please, do not send your kids here. It is not worth one cent.

I went to high school here, and it was a great time, socially and intellectually. Teachers such as Mr. Pedlow were inspiring! He used to recite Beowulf in an old English accent and talk about English Literature like it was a full contact sport. I remember he was the first teacher I didn't want to disappoint with my work, or test scores. My love affair with knowledge began at Ryan, and hasn't ended since. If you go to Ryan to get good grades, you probably will. But if you go there willing to open your mind and be inspired by a faculty that labors under that very mission, you'll come away manifesting much, much more.

Stay away! Bullying is their method of teaching. Any student that has attended this school has either experienced it, or witnessed this first hand. Don't make the mistake I did and send your kids here.

Why would you ever pay $12000 per year. Your not getting anything special for your money. This school isn t even too well recognized by colleges. Save yourself the money and put it towards a good college fund. Make good life choices adults. Send your kids elsewhere. your children s future depend on it. In the Bible it says that a child will suffer for their parents mistakes. Don t let this be one of them, for you can avoid it. Amen

DO NOT send your kids here! It WILL be a life long regret. Not only is it is an utter waste of money, but there are a lot of issues I will touch on in this paragraph. This school is the greediest I have ever come across, tuition is an outrageous price (there s not even any air conditioning), they are constantly BEGGING for money LEFT AND RIGHT. Students will not be able to attend prom if they are even a little bit behind on tuition, and that s only one example. I attended Ryan for 4 years, graduating in 2018. My single mother who was paying for both me and my younger sister to attend Ryan had fallen behind on tuition during my junior year due to loosing her job because of health issues, even so Ryan let the debt build up and allowed me to continue to my senior year. The school allowed me to go through my senior year and let me work as hard as I could, contribute my art and talents to the school, and walk down the aisle at graduation. When it came time for my transcripts to be released so that I could move on to college suddenly all they cared about was the money. They have been holding my mother s debt over my head, the STUDENT, (who had no say in where I got to attend high school) so now I have been stuck unable to attend college until I pay off a debt that doesn t even belong to me. Even though according to FERPA law, which they do indeed have to follow since they receive government funding, they cannot legally hold a student s transcripts. Yet here I am. This is only the tip of the iceberg though, this is a wretched school. They do not care whatsoever about the students, they are running entirely on GREED. It is disgusting. Mr. Panepresso, the Principle of Students Services (the office in charge of discipline) bullies students for his own enjoyment, often singling out a student to make cruel jokes and laugh at them in front of an entire room full of 40+ children while the poor child sits there embarrassed. He is the most unprofessional and unpleasant human I have come across in my life, I have no idea why he is working in this environment around children! He is also not the only staff member that bullies students.
Most of the teachers are horrible and will let the students fail the entire semester only to curve their failing grades so they receive higher marks that they did not earn because of the teachers poor capabilities to actually educate students! Another issue is how misbehaved students are in this school, the students that act up in class consistently get away with interrupting the entire class and disturbing the learning process with no consequences (yet I, an art student, received demerits, detention and threatened suspension for expressing myself through my hair). Their priorities are extremely messed up and they are not offering a healthy environment that helps children grow and become who they are meant to be, instead they restrict them and expect them to fit into their distorted standards. I have never seen so many alcoholics as I have in Archbishop Ryan, the students go out binge drinking every weekend/holiday/event. Archbishop Ryan is very aware of this, as they often address complaints they receive via phone over the loudspeaker during daily announcements, yet not enough is done to educate the children as to why they shouldn t be drinking alcohol at such a young age (or at all). Since they know many students have drinking problems they need to be holding more assemblies and trying wholeheartedly to help these children, but they DO NOT CARE about their students so instead they help raise addicts. Please do not ruin your child s high school years (some of the most important to their development) and potentially the rest of their life by sending them to this despicable institution.

A little bit about myself so you may see Ryan from my eyes: I am currently a junior of Archbishop Ryan. I am the average student with no AP classes and a few honors. I am not failing any classes. I am not in any clubs nor sport teams. I have attended this school for the past 3 years, and do not plan on leaving due to having one year left. However, I wish I left years ago or never attended in the first place. First off, this school is outrageously expensive with little to none of the tuition money going to the facility, the staff, nor the teachers. I'm so sorry for having to make my parent pay 10k+ a year for this sad excuse of a school where there's no a/c in 97% of the rooms, and I have to pay for my own lunch(costing about $5 a day). Yes I could make my own lunch, but when you are a full time student, and work everyday after school until 7 so your parents don't have to pay for all of your needs/wants , I simply don't have time to. Also based on what I have seen the past three years, tuition is just going to go up and up (13k is my guess for 2020+). Secondly, there are many teachers who simply are bad at teaching. I'm not sure how to explain a bad teacher, but you just know when a teacher is bad at teaching. Especially when the 90% of her students are failing/close to failing her class, and not much is being done to help the students. Third, many of the kids there are just bad influences to others. I'll just leave that point at that. There's many more little things that make this school terrible, however there is a silver lining to this review. Many of the teachers at Ryan are kind, caring people who try their hardest to teacher your kids. It's just unfortunate to see them deal with low wages and ignorante students. I wish them the best that God has to offer. Ryan also has history, this is what originally made me want to go to Ryan. Ryan has so many alumni that have done wonderful things for the world, sadly that was 20+ years ago back when tuition was reasonable, and when there were many more good teachers at Ryan. Ryan has also given me an education, granted not worth 10k+. These might not be valid reasons to some, but just know that Ryan has not been the pleasant journey I expected. In short, Ryan is not worth your hard earned money, please spend it on something worth more like a better life your family. Students looking to go to Ryan, please don't come because more likely than not you'll end up having a similar experience as mine. If your heart is truly set on coming to Ryan, please look into scholarships and financial aids, your parents have to pay for so much already why make them pay for a bad school. Please don't waste your time here because many of your "friends" from Ryan won't be there when you need them. I wish you guys coming to Ryan the best, you're going to need it.

Great school! One of the best in Pennsylvania. Academics beyond reproach. Makes other schools in the area create rumors about their demise to hide the fact that they are scared about the truth that Ryan is rising higher than they ever thought. The administration, staff and faculty are all working together to make Ryan a beacon of education for Philadelphia and the Archdiocesen. #weareAR

It should be a good school but its one of the worst.They are very prejudiced.Teachers just pick on kids that they don't like and get them into trouble.Some kids walked with there belt off, there shoes down, no socks ,no ties and its fine while others can't even walk with there belt off. I have seen it for myself.

Good school. Great Education but i worked hard to pay my tuition. That went as hush money to kids being molested by the principal at the time.
