Great to be in Harlem it's changing so much with all of the gentrification going on. I miss the old days.
The Apollo is a piece of history of the United States. It's a classic I love being here and you guys will love it too. Definitely must come here when you're visiting Harlem, NYC.
Like going back to simple times when all music belonged in the house
Didn't get a chance to tour but just the ability to visit a place with so much history and the vibe of the people around made it so special to take a little time out of my day to drop by.
The staff where extremely professional and customer oriented. Even though tours were not allowed, they were knowledable in the history of the Apollo Theater. We will definitely be back when shows resume based on our limited visit with your staff.
What an experience!! I could not do New York without seeing the Apollo Theater. I could feel the history of this place.
We stopped by this legendary theater on our trip to Harlem. This place is such a treasure to see.
We went to the amateur party on Wednesday night. To top it off, we had the chance to chat with Mr. Mitchell, who has been around the place since 1964! Very nice evening in this legendary theater.
On a tour, couldn't go inside. Seeing it up close for the first time was good.

Welcome to Harlem's World Famous Apollo Theater! The Soul of American Culture!
Welcome to the Apollo Theater, a world-renowned cultural institution located in the heart of Harlem, New York City. For over 85 years, the Apollo has been a beacon of African American culture and entertainment, showcasing some of the most talented performers in music, dance, comedy and theater.
The Apollo Theater was founded in 1914 by Jules Hurtig and Harry Seamon as a burlesque theater for white audiences. However, it was not until 1934 when Frank Schiffman took over that the theater began to cater to African American audiences. Schiffman saw an opportunity to tap into Harlem's vibrant cultural scene and transform the Apollo into a showcase for black talent.
Over the years, many legendary performers have graced the stage at the Apollo Theater including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, James Brown and Aretha Franklin. The theater is also famous for its Amateur Night competition which has launched many careers including those of Jimi Hendrix and Michael Jackson.
In addition to its rich history as an entertainment venue, the Apollo Theater is also committed to promoting education and community outreach programs. The theater offers workshops on music production and performance as well as programs for young people interested in pursuing careers in arts management.
The Apollo Theater has undergone several renovations over its long history but remains true to its original mission of showcasing African American culture. In recent years it has expanded its programming beyond music to include dance performances from around the world as well as theatrical productions that explore issues relevant to contemporary society.
