Beautiful drinks at this speakeasy. Pricy but worth it
Great cocktails. Gets very crowded. Will have to wait. Haven't been in a long time, but I enjoyed it when I went. Be ready to wait
Fun and tasty cocktails! Really enjoyed the Nardis with truffles.
a real hidden gem - almost too well hidden in fact! some of the cocktails were strange and experimental but seemed to work
If you get in, you're gold. The drink menu is great, and the bartenders are willing to make something on the fly to suit any taste. Also, the location adds to the genuine speakeasy vibe.
Poor service. I don t know if this is a black thing or what, but for this to be my first visit to this bar, the service was unacceptable. We ask to sit at the bar since the bar was wide open. I was told I couldn t set where I wanted to set. Therefore, I chose not to drink. My girl wanted a drink, but since we where two people taken space at the bar, they wanted to charge us for two drinks. Wow, do people really let that happen to them. Or was this a black thing?
I don't know if the waiter has been in the US for too long, but his attitude is not so good. .. But cocktails are well worth the trip because they are advanced even with the strict standards of New York.
Small, intimate, and dimly lit room to converse with some drinks. They play jazz music in the background. There may be a long wait due to the small space. The drinks are unique and can accommodate anyone, including myself who enjoys drinks that don't taste like alcohol. However, when I went, there were many groups talking loudly, so we needed to speak loudly to compensate.
Very fun.
And this place is not closed. I just called and they are open.
Not sure who the scum is that would say they are closed.
But good for me I suppose, I'll have a better shot at getting a seat. That place is always jammed.
Great speakeasy and one of my favorite bars in the city. The drinks never disappoint and always enjoy my time whenever I go. Sometimes it's packed and the wait if close to an hour and other times you can get seating in a few mins, it's hit or miss.
Awesome speakeasy ! You should order the Smoke bomb drink, it is good and quite a show.
Go through the Japanese restaurant and to the unmarked door that faces you as you get to the hostess stand. No parties more than 4. The specialty cocktails are impressive here.
Had a very interesting drink with yogurt. Not bad at all surprisingly and another bourbon with cinnamon. Both yum!
A hidden speak easy where the maximum number of guest is 5 or so. It's hidden behind a large Japanese restaurant which isn't bad itself, but the coziness and the atmosphere here is superb. You can order drinks based on the flavors you like and the mixologists to a great job coming up with super cool drinks. Try asking for an earl gray vodka based drink and you won't be disappointed.
Cocktails are all delicious and made with premium alcohol so taste smooth and didn't have any headache the day after despite having more than what I usually drink. The drinks have many layers of taste and are unique. Service is great too. Especially nice as we got to sit in the back room where it was quieter.
They've just opened at 6pm and declined to sit a group of 6 on 2 separate tables (4 and 2).
Excellent cocktails! Not to be missed! No matter what your taste is they will have an expertly crafted cocktail on the menu for you. If you are hesitant about the ingredients, talk the the bartender and they'll help you figure it out.
Nice and hidden away. Great atmosphere with prohibition era music (or close to it). High quality drinks but FYI not booze heavy on the menu drinks, better off going neat.
Really well constructed cocktails. Flavors were so balanced. And the mocktails are on point too, for my non alcoholic peeps!
Exquisite art of Japanese craft cocktail making at its finest. Have to time it right for shorter wait in line. Welcoming staff and prompt service.
The atmosphere is good, and the cocktail is delicious! The price is not much compared to the price, but the cocktail is delicious and I will go again. If you go up to the second floor Japanese restaurant, you will have an entrance and you have to go early because it is open and you can get a seat soon.
This place is amazing, hidden behind a huge wooden door on a second floor of a Japanese restaurant at St Marks. The service is really good, staffs are nice. My favorite drink is flirty bird, the rim of plum sea salt added another layer to it, love it !!!
I find myself coming back to this place over and over again, it's a fantastic speakeasy with very knowledgeable staff, great cocktails and not too loud. Try the Smoke Gets In Your Eyes!
As soon as I walked into this place, I knew I was up for something memorable. Sit at the bar, tell the bartender what you re into and get whatever they recommend. You won t regret it.
Unique cocktails that taste incredible (tequila, chickpea and avocado? Yes), very friendly staff, stunning environment. A gem.
Great speakeasy in the area. Good for a date night, but be aware, the wait can be quite long. Just FYI, it's a little cramped as there is predominantly bar and window seating. You will be jostled by people coming in and out as well as the servers on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night. Come earlier in the evening, or on an off night for a more peaceful atmosphere and people watching.
Great date place. Don't come with a group as they might not be able to seat you.
This place is my most favorite bar ever. Their drinks are delicious and professionally crafted by passionate bartenders. Every time I visit New York, I have to stop by even if I have to wait for 30-40 minutes and please expect to wait that long because this is a hot spot!
Awesome warm and cozy atmosphere. Drinks are cleverly crafted with a handful of unique ingredients. The unhurried and melodious vibe is a nice contrast to the hustle and bustle of New York.
Amazing and legit japanese speakeasy with great cocktails.
Great everything!!! But long line not worth waiting!!!
The wait here usually ranges between 25 to 45 minutes. It's connected to a sushi & Japanese cuisine restaurant that serves drinks. You cannot buy drinks and then wait in line to get into angel's share. We learned that the hard way. The okonomiyaki in the nearby restaurant looks delicious and is topped with ketchup. I will definitely come back to eat at the restaurant that's connected to angel's share. Angel's share itself has delicious and unique cocktails that I would consider very theatrical. It comes out with smoke, garnishes and interesting smells. I'll definitely be back in the future. Cocktails range from $18-22.
It's no longer a secret, but Angel's Share is one of the best places to escape the city for a few hours in the company of excellent cocktails. Located in an unmarked door in Village Yokocho, guests have their choice of bar, group, or back room seating (if they can make it past the line). Choose from any of their excellent cocktails, like the Serenity - a beautiful combination of citrus vodka and lychee liquor with lemon juice, rose water, grapefruit, and a dash of citrus and herbs, topped off with a single lychee - or ask for bartender's choice. Service is polite and unintrusive and won't rush you out the door.
Really cool bar in an interesting setting. Hard to find as it is behind this Japanese restaurant, but it s absolutely worth it, because the drinks are very inventive and very tasty.
Secret bar with amazing cocktails. But be ready for line about hour
True speakeasy in Manhattan that is worth the wait. Their Mezcal cocktail hit on all points. Magnificent.
Food was delicious. Diluc was indeed there. I highly recommend
It's not just super cool and secret feeling but they are absolute cocktail masters and really want to make you happy.
Killer cocktails with a low-key Japanese speakeasy vibe.
Creative cocktails that work! Insanely long wait time (1-2.5 hrs) is expected on any evenings. They also don't take parties bigger than 4.
Small but cozy speakeasy bar. It's on the 2nd floor and you have to go through yokocho
Slow service when full. But drinks are great and ambience is lovely.
Angel's Share is a cute place. Once you go up the stairs, it is a sushi restaurant and then behind the door in the back it is a bar! They have some really fun and tasty drinks! I would recommend the cheek to cheek if you like fruity, girly cocktails.
The bartender was very knowledgeable about the drink offerings and made great suggestions for what I was looking for. If you are a cocktail lover, this place is for you.
Smoke gets in your eyes might seem gimmicky but it is awesome!
I only had one drink. And it made me want o come back. Great service by the way.
Great place for cocktails. I try to visit as often as I can. Drinks are expensive-ish ($16+) but tasty. The servers here have always been professional with me. These are photos from the annex. I got here too late on this Friday night to get a spot at the bar. Bewitched and Night and Day.
This is one of the speakeasy bars you must visit in NYC. It's behind a Japanese restaurant.
This place is very famous for it's cocktails, tried some and liked most of it as it was given as recommendation by the waiter. The cocktails are on expensive side but this is NYC so it's common i feel. We don't need to make reservation, we went there and waited 5 mins to get seated.
They also have bar food incase you get hungry.
When the description of this place says great cocktails, it means great cocktails. They have a huge variety of different drinks and all are really well made. The quality and taste is well worth the price.
Awesome drinks without too much crowding or pretension.
The place is amazingly ridiculous!!! We just want to have some cocktails and agree to sit separately, but the waitress seems not able to understand English. The only word she s able to say is sorry . Yes
this asian style bar is hidden behind a sushi restaurant. very nice atmosphere, small and tiny room though, but very extraordinary cocktails based on asian spices and plants.
Speakeasy with fancy cocktail made from good quality ingredient. A page in the menu dedicated Japanese whisky cocktails.
The style of the place and of the japanese speaking staff works completely.
Terrible treatment by the hostess. We have no problem waiting for a table, but she was so rude and mean that we just didn't feel like waiting
It was very difficult to understand, but I entered the side street and went up the giraffe door to the left door. Since it is a shop without reservations, it will be a long line, so it is better to sit down from around 17:30. Very satisfied with the Japanese bartenders who serve wonderful cocktails! I will visit you again!
Drinks were perfect. Excellent environment for some intimate discussions.
Everyone is a man, she is a beautiful woman! Actress? !! The cocktail is delicious and the best! !!
Some really refreshing cocktails. Went on a first date and since we both appreciate a good cocktail, we loved it. There's always a wait to get in so make sure you facor in some wait time before you get here. Hope this place turns out to be my lucky charm
Some of the best cocktails in NYC. I got served some special cocktail which the bartender customized as per my taste. Awesome, nice for a catch up drink with your friend as well as a date night.
The variety of cocktails are amazing here. It alway a nice place for me to being here alone or with my girlfriends. Recommend for people who love to try some fresh and tasty cocktails.
One of the more interesting SPEAKEASIES in the city. The atmosphere is excellent and the drinks will make for great and easy conversation.
Bring a date here, you will impress them.
Delicious cocktails, clearly a lot of effort has gone into developing the recipes.
Hole in the wall that is absolutely unique but old school at the same time
Great speakeasy! Wait can be long at times so best to go as early as you can! Highly recommend the flirtibird
Amazing experience. Love the whole secret door concept. Ambiance and decor are amazing.
just wish they had the drinks to match. drinks here are not up to the quality and standard of many other serious cocktail bars in this city.
I have nothing to add to Barbara Griffith s excellent review, other than:
If you wear high heels and/or get a little slushy, those steep stairs could cost you an arm or a leg.
Also, took off a star for glacial service.
That said, absolutely well worth the visit!
Love this place. Awesome cocktails. It might be tricky to find, you need to climb up stairs, walk through a restaurant, then a side door to the cocktail bar, but worth the search
Amazing hidden place !!! Cocktails so different and delicious! We love this place a lot.
Im not a fan of speakeasy bc every single one always have a line and I feel like the drinks are usually overpriced... however, my husband loves to go to these bars bc he likes the way you have to search and find them.. & if you can get past the waiting of 20-45 mins it s not too bad especially since it s connected to a restaurant so when you wait outside you are still technically inside and waiting in the warmth (unlike the other two we had to wait outside in a cold winter night). This is the third speakeasy we ve gone in NYC and it was small(like the last two) but it does have an interesting painting and nice window views. The drinks were not too strong and had nice flavor and variety. Our drinks were 16$... overall we enjoyed our time there.
Wow it has a speakeasy!! You don t see that anymore
Aside from great atmosphere it also known for its careful crafted cocktails. If you love speakeasy then this have to be on top of your list to try.
This Asain speakeasy located near St. Marks is a nice treat for those who like their cocktails with a touch if whimsy and intrigue. This posh spot is covered in warm wood finishing complete with an angel mural over the bar that lends to the bars name, ' angel's share' a nod to the amount of whiskey lost during the whiskey barreling process. Yamasaki, a Japanese whiskey, happens to be my ultimate fave when it comes to the brown liquors but the entire menu is a smorgasbord of delicious cocktails to suit a variety of palettes! A fun place to hit up for the drink lover in your life.
Moon light is my favorite. They make Best cocktail in nyc.
Waited 20 minutes for a table in the back room. It was very cosy and a great intimate environment. The lighting was nice, and the chairs were comfortable. To get to this establishment, go into the entrance marked Village Yokocho. Go up the stairs and make a quick left. Open the door and wait to be seated. Enjoyed the cocktails very much!
Had a wonderful time at this speakeasy cocktail bar! Went in right as it opened at 6PM. Got a seat at the bar right away. It was a true pleasure to watch these incredibly professional bartenders work. The bartenders are the epitome of professional. Attentive but not everbearing, precise but not too slow. I highly recomend stopping by if you are looking for a nice cocktail in the mostly beer-and-shot area of St. Marks.
Hidden Japanese speakeasy bar with amazing cocktails and a nice classic ambiance.
super cute speakeasy that's tucked away above a restaurant. the view it the window is nice and the service is amazing but none of that compares to the incredible drinks here. I've never had anything as unique and good as the cocktails here. I got the Flirtibird and the Monks Dream. Never had anything like it. Definitely worth the price and I highly recommend going.
The best cocktails in New York in a speakeasy hidden inside a cheap dozen. A guarantee for years.
One of the best Cocktails Bars in East Village! Phenomenal drinks! Amazing atmosphere! The place is always packed, but the staff is fast and you are not going to wait a lot! I will recommend trying the fried oysters they are always fresh and taste amazing!
