The American Birding Association (ABA) is a non-profit organization that has been providing leadership to birders for over 50 years. The ABA's mission is to increase the knowledge, skills, and enjoyment of birding among its members and the general public.
The ABA was founded in 1968 by a group of birders who recognized the need for a national organization that could provide guidance and support to birders across North America. Today, the ABA has over 12,000 members from all 50 states and several countries around the world.
One of the primary goals of the ABA is to promote conservation efforts that protect birds and their habitats. The organization works closely with other conservation groups, government agencies, and individuals to advocate for policies that benefit birds and their ecosystems.
In addition to its conservation work, the ABA provides a wide range of resources for birders at all levels. These include educational programs such as workshops, webinars, and field trips; publications such as Birding magazine; online resources such as eBird; and networking opportunities through local chapters and events.
