Exploration
Aker Energy has a strong track record of successful exploration activities around the world. In Ghana, the company holds a 50% participating interest in the Deepwater Tano Cape Three Points (DWT/CTP) block located offshore western Ghana. The DWT/CTP block covers an area of approximately 3,000 square kilometers with water depths ranging from 1,000 meters to over 2,500 meters.
In January 2019 Aker announced that it had discovered oil at Pecan-4A well located on DWT/CTP block which was later confirmed as one of the largest discoveries made on Africa’s Atlantic Margin with estimated reserves between 450 –550 million barrels.
Development
Following successful exploration activities at Pecan-4A well on DWT/CTP block , Aker energy has been working towards developing this discovery into a world-class asset for both itself as well as for Ghanaians through job creation opportunities among others .The development plan includes drilling additional wells , building subsea infrastructure including FPSO (Floating Production Storage Offloading) vessel which will be used for processing crude oil and gas from the field.
