Zugol Swedish Bark Industry, founded in Gävle in 1969 after a sensational discovery that meant that oil could be easily cleaned with the help of regular pine bark. Today, the company has its headquarters in Österå just outside Falun and produces about 700 tonnes of bark granules annually.
