World Solar Challenge is a biennial solar-powered car race which covers 3,021 km through the Australian Outback, from Darwin to Adelaide. The race attracts teams from around the world, which are fielded by universities, corporations, and high schools. Its objective is to promote research on solar-powered cars. World Solar Challenge was first held in 1987.
