A method of controlling a user interface for a mobile device having a visual display, the user interface being for playing sounds via the mobile device; wherein in the method the orientation of the mobile device about a first axis is used to select a sound phrase from a plurality of sound phrases associated with a music track, and the orientation of the mobile device about a second axis is used to determine whether the sound phrase is to be played.
