Tourism award winner Soria Moria created an employee share ownership program with the intention of empowering local staff and providing them with long-term prosperity. In a two-stage process, the founders will transfer all of their shares to the staff making Soria Moria. The majority of hotel staff come from farming households living below the poverty line. In addition to its financial benefits, the program provides a platform for staff training and personal development and helps them secure a future position in the competitive job market.
